AG says state employees won't honor subpoenas
By STEVE QUINN, Associated Press Writer

JUNEAU, Alaska - Alaska's investigation into whether Gov. Sarah Palin abused her power, a potentially damaging distraction for John McCain's presidential campaign, ran into intensified resistance Tuesday when the attorney general said state employees would refuse to honor subpoenas in the case.

In a letter to state Sen. Hollis French, the Democrat overseeing the investigation, Republican Attorney General Talis Colberg asked that the subpoenas be withdrawn. He also said the employees would refuse to appear unless either the full state Senate or the entire Legislature votes to compel their testimony.

Colberg, who was appointed by Palin, said the employees are caught between their respect for the Legislature and their loyalty to the governor, who initially agreed to cooperate with the inquiry but has increasingly opposed it since McCain chose her as his running mate.

Not even in the White House yet and already she's breaking the law. So much for "Upholding the Constitution". This is just fucking outrageous. The Republicans just ignore the truth and ignore the law and no one holds them accountable. You can't ignore a subpoena just because you feel like it. This investigation was going on long before she was ever tapped to be VP and she'd agreed to testify. Suddenly it's a Democratic plot? What utter horseshit. This is Karl "Fuck Your Subpoena" Rove's work for sure.

Why IS that??? Why is it they can keep repeating the same things over and over, as if it's the truth, until people start to actually believe it? Why aren't they being held accountable? It's maddening!

Stick a fork in Obama because he's done.

The poor chump cant get around Palin and his current plan is little more than painting white voters as racists.

It's over.

He is done if he doesn't get his shit together, and soon. He should be out there talking about definite and specific plans and programs and stop being so vague and general. People want to know just what he's going to do to create jobs and stabilize the economy and how he's going to pay for this without raising taxes, and he's not saying anything of substance, so McCain is scoring points painting him as a tax-and-spend liberal.

He's got to make people realize that under Bush, this country's becoming a Socialized Plutocracy, with the government using the middle class's money to pick up the tab for the rich people's corporations, while letting working people founder. He's got to get fucking angry about that.

Who would have thought that Obama would turn out to suffer from a lack of soul?

The trouble always is, that the Democrats in an election are only motivated by hope, so they tend to be naive, honest and earnest. They want to play fair and on the up-and-up.

The Republicans, on the other hand, are fighting for their money, for what they own, so they don't pull any punches or honor any rules. They go for the balls and the jugular. And that's why they always win.

I really like Obama, but the above is the reason why I voted for Hillary in the primary. She knows exactly how dirty the Republicans can fight, and she's willing to get down there in the trenches and sling the mud right back at them. I wish that wasn't what a presidential election came down to, but I'm afraid it is. If you're gonna be in a street fight, you don't send a gentleman; you send a street fighter.

Yes, the Dems can't seem to understand the difference between a street fight and a duel. I've actually heard some say that they'd rather be right than win.
