A Gay Republican

I have disdain for them because they're idiots -- well, Rubio is slightly less of a fool than the others -- but since when are Cubans (Cruz and Rubio) and Filipinos (Malkin) part of a natural liberal constituency?

Filipinos are a minority and Cubans are Hispanics. I note you disregarded the other people I mentioned, and I could have included thousands more, but everybody is already familiar with the others.

Democrats/Liberals pass them off as the guardians of the disadvantaged, including women and minorities. The way they can continue to do this is by castigating the "infidels" who dare to disagree with them and who prove, by their own success, that the Dem/Lib claims are lies.

Wingnuts have a pretty low bar on what they consider persecution, at least in regard to themselves.

Extreme mudslinging certainly qualifies as persecution. Imagine the howls of outrage if somebody photoshopped a bimbo into a pic of a faithful Dem. family man.

When republicans stop demonizing and oppressing them, then I would imagine the democrats would stop being the guardians of the disadvantaged.

When Obama doesn't have his teleprompter however he starts jibbering, ah'ing and uhing all over the place. I can only imagine what a private conversation with him must be like.

Not necessarily. Obama didn't have a teleprompter and wasn't stumbling at that Republican retreat back in 2010 when he basically mopped the floor with them on everything they tried to throw at him.

Obama Goes To GOP Lions' Den -- And Mauls The Lions

First Posted: 03/31/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 04:20 PM ET

President Obama traveled to a House Republican retreat in Baltimore on Friday and delivered a performance that was at once defiant, substantive and engaging. For roughly an hour and a half, Obama lectured GOP leaders and, in a protracted, nationally-televised question-and-answer session, deflected their policy critiques, corrected their misstatements and scolded them for playing petty politics. He basically big daddy bitch-slapped everyone there and it was so embarrassing that Fox had to cut the broadcast before it ended. Good times. :D

Or maybe the president with a bone through his nose?

When have Republicans as a group oppressed any minority, as a group? Remember, it was Dems who were the slave owners and the lynchers and the writers and enforcers of Jim Crow laws. They also opposed all the major civil rights legislation.

Most of those Dems became members of the GOP in the 60's and 70's

How bout we start with Republican no longer pretending that anything from more than thirty or so years ago is at all relevant. No longer pretending that they don't actively campaign on being the party of white (C'mon when even Micheal Steele admits you've got a problem what the fuck else do you want? I mean I know you guys all abandoned Powell because the only reason he'd ever vote for Obama was because of race but seriously the Southern Strategy is a real thing.) people you might have a case.

when have you ever oppressed a minority though? You mean like right now when you're against a woman's right to choose and gay's right to marry? Sure not every Dem is championing the cause but claiming that Dems are the reason we don't have gay marriage in this country is positively absurd.

How about that, but you haven't answered my question.

What do you mean by "you?" I'm not a Republican; I'm a registered Libertarian and am pro-choice on abortion and believe SSM should be legal all over.

One of us can't read.

That sure as fuck looks like your question. Am I confused? Did I quote some other Boxlicker? If I did I apologize but that certainly looks like it was you. Did I edit or tamper with your post in some way? I know people do that from time to time so if you're claiming these are not your words then okay but I think these were your words.

Two things, first Libertarians are a myth. They are made up of Republicans who are ashamed to be associated with the racist, sexists, Islamophobes and varied bigots who make up the Riech Wing of the Republican Party and instead of cleaning their own house they simply abandoned it to the vermin. When the chips are down they don't come and hang with us, they go back and stand in front of the rotted carcass of their party paste on fake smiles and play for the home team.

Second unless I altered your post, which I don't remember doing but hey I've had a few drinks tonight, you just got finished defending Republicans. Am I supposed to assume you're defending them because you disagree with their stance on gay marriage and abortion yet feel it's unfair to claim that they vote against these things?

Libertarians are not a myth.

I became one when I reached the point that I was ashamed to admit that I was a Democrat.

A Republican shares more economically with a Democrat than a Libertarian does; they tend to the Austrian School.

The reason I grew ashamed to be a Democrat is exactly what we see here, what we saw with Clarence Thomas and what we saw NPR do to Juan Williams. That subtle idea that you owe allegiance to the party because you can be pigeon-holed into a group and if you fail to identify with and conform to their expectations (of dependency) for that group, then you are some sort of race/group traitor and as such, anything can be said about you and personal public destruction is perfectly acceptable (even if a lie has to be fabricated).
