The female can carry the fertilized eggs dormant within her for up to a year. And will only allow the fetus's to grow when unstressed.

The armadillo litter always consists of four and they are all the result of meiosis. That is to say they are quadrulplets. All grown from a single egg.

And----The chicken crossed the road to prove to the armadillo that it could be done.
