Wasn't it also so, that in ancient Greece, gay male relationships were not only accepted, but encouraged? An older man usually taught up a young boy, and they remained lovers until it was time for the young man to get married and have kids to carry on the family name. Yes, but men who continued the "bottom" role into adulthood were treated as pariahs in most cities.

Sparta was an exception, that was where the cult of the warrior lovers flourished. But even there, it was most common for older men to take younger lovers.
