A Cake With No Frosting?!

Where is my special prize for being the only bloke to come up with a topping?

 Neo

Good job *pat on back*

Just took the cake outta the oven... smells like chocolatey heaven... it's the kind with pudding in the mix, and licking the beaters was delightful ;)

I was gonna do the whole wicked cool Alton Brown make powdered sugar in the food processer outta regular thing, but I can't find my food processor blades! Ack!

SO, I took Lady Cibelle's suggestion, and mixed hot cocoa mix with a softened stick of butter and a little milk... VOILA! Frosting! It's good, too!

Wow.

So now I wait for it to cool, so I can frost it...

Smells good to me, in fact I can almost taste it.

I used to make 72 different types of cakes in the patisserie and never used a recipe - and now, just three years later I can hardly remember one of them. My favourite topping was a cream cheese over carrot and walnut cake, decorated with tiny marzipan carrots. Easter treat, might even make one.

Yum! So...how do we order a cake from you? :cathappy:

And Selena...you'd better take a picture of that cake and share it with the rest of us here. We all helped make it, right? ;)

Oooh it DOES look good!!!!!

Son-of-a-gun! It does! Looks great actually. Who knew "Nestles-Quick" frosting could be so lovely?

Needs something decorative though...like candy flowers in the corner or something...

Neo, you're the cake expert. Any decorative suggestions?

I didn't have any flowers... or fruit... or anything... except redhots... LOL So I wrote "I 'heart' U" and presented it to hubby when he came home...

it was YUMMY!!! My 4 year old was saying, "Can I have another piece" when she wasn't even halfway through her first :)

Thanks again... my chocolate craving is thoroughly satisfied... :cathappy:

Just go buy a bunch of twinkies and squease the stuff out of them and if you do it real careful like you can even write peoples names and stuff and it tases good too.

Debbie

Frosting is overrated. Add a little syrup, or jam of your choice, or brandy, or chocolate, or champagne (seriously) and bake it at a slightly lower heat and longer time than a regular cake.

If you get it just right...yowsa.
