I am wondering if there happens to be any on-going thread anywhere in this great place where books that are being read by members are discussed.

I have just begun Story of O and have plans to read the Sleeping Beauty novels after I am done.

I would like to invite anyone reading this book (or other, now or in the future) to join me here (or elsewhere if a thread already exists) in discussing the reading material.

Any takers?

Check the Library under category "Literature"

You can also run a search using the following // BDSM and Literature // BDSM and Books

Yes, there are threads out there where books have been discussed, you just need to put a little effort into tracking them down. It will be a good exercise for you in learning to use the Search function :rose:

~anelize

Added: The threads are older, but you will see where books have already been discussed. You may wish to either BUMP those threads, or start your own... either way, again, search them out and see what you think.

Hi Inner Darkness,

Threads have happened discussing books, and some have gone well. While a search might be fun--to know what's said--you should feel free to start a new conversation/discussion.

MastersPrincess: I agree that's a fine site. The whole story of O is available online, last time I looked.

It's been discussed for 50 years, but I imagine there's still more to say....

I just finished the Sleeping Beauty books...I must say that I did enjoy them for the most part...but the 3rd one kinda got the best of me...I did a lot of skipping in that one. Just got a little too intense for me.

I am working on the third of the beaty trilogy right now. They are pretty decent but a little too fanciful for my taste. I like what i read especially if its about BDSM to be more real. I can get into it more. Its a great way to relax though and get my body stiring.

The Story of O is just a beautiful book. I swear it is my bible...hehehe. Was a little more realistic in my eyes. I could actually see myself as O.

I just also finished reading a book of short stories called Meet the Master. It was interesting. There wasnt much hardcore action to it. It really explored more the connection between a Dom and a sub. There was one particular story though that had me in tears. It is titled Therapy. I am actually working on typing it out for my Mentor. So if you are interested in that particular story when i have it complete i will be glad to email it to you.

Oh another one. LOL can you tell i love to read? L'image or The Image. It is along the lines of the Story of O but from what i hear is darker and more perverse. It is out of print but i know that amazon has a few used copies. I will be getting it soon.

do you have an author or editor for the Meet the Master book? I think I might like to read it, and I would love to see what you type out if I cant find the book somewhere online

*runs to check eBay and Amazon* lol

I have read and reread them all, though it has been a while. Enjoy. I have to agree with Fiestyred16. The third Sleeping Beauty story was different. I enjoyed the first two much better.
I would love to get my hands on a quality movie version of The Story of O. I have two versions of the story on video, but they just don't do it justice. I guess this is usually the case with most delicious stories. They are better left to the mind's eye. LadyAura

The Written Word

The first erotica I read was by accident. On my way home from honeymooning in Barbardos I picked up Exit to Eden at the airport (I recognized Anne Rice's name and took a chance on good airplane reading). That book awakened in me some very powerful but long surpressed emotions and desires. It certainly set me on a quest. I never could shake the image of being dangled by my wrists from a rope attached to a hook in the ceiling.....

Any other good suggestions for a closet submissive?

Well, Hello there RyC! Welcome to our Community :rose: Good suggestions for reading? Well, left yourself wide open for that one *grin* Now, the librarian has you in her clutches ..... actually, i'm really not all that bad. I usally stop by whenever i see a newbie, and throw a couple of links at them. If you are looking for some great reading, why don't you check out our wonderful BDSM Library, it's loaded with lots of threads on many, many topics. You'll find categories on Submission, as well as a great Links category (check out Wizard's Links thread while you're there), as well as many others.

Of course, there are always the old favorites, www.castlerealm.com and www.steeldoor.com/chamber.html, both great one-stop shopping sites with great articles on BDSM from both sides of the whip.

Good luck, and enjoy your journey :)

Yes, I agree about O, though I find most people love or hate it, and in my experience submissives on average love it more than Doms...but that is just my finding. Also read Meet The Master series of short stories. Was good in the diversity of storyline and sexualities presented instead of the standard hetero only BDSDM read.

Another I have read in the last year was 'Three Rivers' from memory. The storyline is not full on BDSM, concentrating on the life of the main character and her relationships with her mother and sister, her sexual experiences and feelings, and how she meets the one man meant for her who is definately D in character. In the writing it incorporates in part the influence of family relationships on her personality, her feelings about the incredible experience she goes through in meeting him, and the way the relationship helps free her from the negativity her family seemingly thrive on.

In telling of the development of their relationship, from the first moment it is clear he is D in every fibre of his being and her submissiveness comes to the fore, surprising her at first and then over whelming her in all the perfection we submissive beings find. Is a fascinating read which I hope to repeat to see what effects a second perusal has. Unfortunately, as I have recently moved to Holland to be with Master 24/7, it is still in transit and I cannot recall the author. Should be here in a matter of a couple of weeks though and I can post author then if anyone wants it.

Catalina,

Please do post the author when you receive the book. I'm getting the urge to get back into reading....I just have to pull myself away from this computer long enough lol.

I found the Sleeping Beauty trilogy and the Story of O as a package deal at Amazon.....I think I might order it. I've read the Story of O, but the online version and I think I would love to have the actual book.

Marketplace

What about the Marketplace Series of books? There is a fifth now called "The Reunion", has anyone read it and what did you think?

Never said:
Kushiel's Dart.

Loved it. Have suggested it. Several times.

Beauty and The story of O <sigh> are real popular around here.

*wry smile*

each to their own of course...

i quite enjoyed the other four books in the series and am waiting anxiously for "The Reunion" to see what happens next.

At last my things have arrived from Australia so between coughs, I am busy unpacking and trying not to get too sentimental over it all. Burst in to tears unexpectedly when I started unpacking my much loved library which sent Master into a moment's panic thinking I had hurt myself. LOL. So I have dug through about half of the 50 boxes of books (thank goodness I disobeyed Master and left many books behind!!..Think he is silently thinking the same) and found the novel I mentioned, 'Three Rivers'. The author is Roberta Latow and published by HEADLINE BOOK PUBLISHING PLC.

I finally finished the Story of O when i was on vacation....

I was quite disappointed that the version of the book I was reading had supressed the last chapter where O goes back to Roissy :(

I kinda threw it down in disgust when I got to the end and that happened...

I DID enjoy it a lot though...much of the activities that O participated in are not things that I personally enjoy or would partake in, but I absolutely LOVED the descriptions of her inner thoughts and feelings on being owned and how she felt about herself and her relationships with Rene and then Sir Stephen.

I am going to be starting the Sleeping Beauty Books next!

Did anyone post (or know of) the author for the Meet the Master book?

.'Meeting The Master' : Stories About Mastery, Slavery, And The Darker Side Of Desire by Elissa Wald. Publisher: GROVE PRESS, NY

C

A couple of others some may enjoy are 'The Academy' by Arabella Knight (Publisher: Nexus, London) and 'Maid' by Dagmar Brand (Publisher: HEADLINE BOOK PUBLISHING, London)

C

Also on the non-fiction side and excellent is 'A Defense Of Masochism' by Anita Phillips (Publisher: St. Martin's Press. NY)....not only a good read but has a beautiful cover of red roses placed (vase like) in a studded solid steel wrist cuff.

I am in the middle of reading The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. It's a fantasy series based in a world of magic but it is filled with BDSM themes. Pain, submission and dominance is a HUGE part of the series. Anyone else read it?
