8 second Ride

She smiled back at him, "well, I guess we will just have to make it work. I can work with my job and get some time off here and there and meet you in whatever city you're in at that time... And besides that... We will just have to skype or something- and let it build... I'm sure it will make the times we are with each other that much better." She gave his hand a light squeeze. "Are we crazy? I mean, you said it- we don't know much about each other yet..."

Jake shrugged, before grinning. "If we are crazy, maybe this world needs a bit more impulsive craziness. I think we have something to build on, and it could really go well. I like the skype idea. Do you have an iPhone as well? We can FaceTime as well as skype if needed, or we can find other ways. I will also agree it makes the time we are together better," he said, squeezing her hand gently and leaning in for another kiss.

She smiled, unable to conceal her happiness. "Sure, we can FaceTime too.. Whatever we need to do." She leaned in this time and her lips met his as they kissed softly. Their first kiss sent sparks thru her and now this kiss sent a slow burning get thru her entire body. She was breathless when the kiss broke. She touched her lips and smiled, "wow."

Jake just nodded, keeping his eyes closed. "That....might be the understatement of the century. The kiss makes me just want to stay here and forget about the whole competition," he said, chuckling softly and wondering where this girl had been all his young life.

She leaned her forehead against his as she steadied her breath. "We better cool it with those kisses then... Can't have you losing focus now can we?" She smiled at him as she leaned back against the little fence separating them from the parking lot. "This is definitely not what I pictured when I envisioned going to the rodeo." Smiling like a school girl.

Jake chuckled, something he seemed to be doing a lot lately. "You never expect to find someone who feels so right with you at a rodeo. Usually you expect to see someone get crunched by a bull, or someone come away with a new belt buckle," he said, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

She laughed playfully.. "Yeah that about sums it up for sure. Remind me to thank Rachel later for convincing me to come." The night air had gotten much chillier and the skies were clear, full of stars. Her body got a chill, she wasn't sure if it was their current situation or the cool night air or perhaps a combination of both...

Jake nodded. "I'm gonna hafta thank her myself. Maybe find a rider she is interested in and see what happens for them," he said, pulling Kali into a hug after seeing her shiver. That was one of the better perks about being able to wear comfortable jeans and plaid shirts. He was always warm.

Kali laughed, "well she won't need any help finding a guy... She was already copied up with a rider named Cody." She shook her head. She leaned against him as his arms wrapped around her. It felt really good to be held. She really didn't want the night to end, it had been pretty incredible

Jake laughed outright at that pairing. "From what I've seen, they will be perfect. If what I saw of Rachel is a pretty good guestimation of how she normally is, Cody is perfect for her. He will maybe say 20 sentences all day, but can remember a conversation from two months ago....perfectly. that man is scary at times," he said, happy that Cody might have someone to finally pull him out of his shell. He would definitely have to thank Rachel for this night, and every other that he got to share with Kali.

"I hate to ask this, but how late are you wanting to stay out here?" He asked quietly, gently rubbing her back.

She smiled and shrugged her shoulders, "I hadn't given it much thought actually. it's been a long day for you tho... I'm sure you must be getting exhausted." She felt his hand lightly rubbing her back and she found it comforting.

Jake nodded at that. "That's definitely true, but I'm finding that I really like where I am right now," he said, emphasizing in it with a gentle squeeze. He kissed the top of Kali's head, before shaking his head. I don't even know your age or last name, let alone what you do for work!" He said with a grin.

She smiled as he kissed her head. "Yeah, well for the record I am 24 and a physical therapist. And my last name is Riley.... For the record." She leaned against him, "I know I should excuse myself and let you get some rest but still...."

Jake couldn't help but smile as he heard her name and age. "Well, Miss Riley, I'm Jacob West, and I'm 23. I turn 24 here shortly though, and as you know, I'm a bull rider, as well as I have my own cattle farm. A gift from my parents before they retired to Florida," he said, chuckling at the conversation he had with his dad about the ranch. "I'll be fine sleep wise. It's a late start tomorrow, so I can always sleep in a bit more than normal," he said, finding her hand and squeezing it, before pulling her back into the bar. He leaned down and whispered loud enough for her to hear,"don't want your friend to think I ran off with you."

Kali smiled as she learned more details about this mystery guy in front of her. She followed him back inside the bar, her hand in his. When he commented about her friend she glanced around and spotted them in a darker corner of the place, "I have a feeling my friend has something else on her mind tonight." She laughed motioning towards where her friend was straddling Cody's lap and they were engaged in quite the heated exchange. "It appears I'm not going anywhere right now." She smiled at him as she leaned against him a little.

Jake was just fine with that, wrapping his arm around Kali's shoulder, squeezing her gently against his side. Truth be told, he'd rather her stay like this. He knew he needed to temper this infatuation, but at the same time, nothing had ever felt so right to him, and he was loathe to let it get away from him. He leaned down, softly asking, "Would you like to dance?"

She smiled as she felt his arm wrap around her. It was unbelievable how good being with him made her feel... It all just felt so right. She knew it was sudden but she couldn't help but to feel like this was different. When he asked if she wanted to dance she looked over at him and smiled, "sure.. Let's dance."

Jake chuckled as a slow song came on, happy he got to start out at least looking like he knew what he was doing. It wasn't so much that he had two left feet, but that it took copious amounts of alcohol before his body found the rhythm the music had. He lead Kali onto the floor, pulling her close and slowly swaying to the music, humming softly to the classic.

Their bodies came together at it was like they were made to fit together. Her head rested lightly on his shoulder/chest as they moved to the music. Thoughts of everything else slipped from her mind and there was only the two of them... Nothing else. She could feel the beat of his heart and she closed her eyes for a second just to picture what it would be like in the future for the two of them.

Jake sighed softly, happy with how the night was turning out. It looked like he finally found something worthwhile, not just a cheap night and then awkward morning. He squeezed Kali to him, enjoying how she fit against his body. He knew the song would come to an end, but was determined to enjoy it until it did.

That song led to another and then before they knew it they had been dancing for quite a while. When they finally took a break she looked around and noticed that the crowd had dwindled down to just a few people left in the place. "Wow, guess we must have lost track of time huh?" She smiled as she held his hand

Jake smiled as the DJ seemingly read his mind with slow song after slow song. He knew it wasn't closing time, but he was happy nonetheless. When a regular song finally came on, he sighed softly, before nodding to Kali. "We did indeed lose track of time. Luckily everyone is still here, they've just found someone else," he said, pulling Kali close for another kiss, before leading her to a booth to relax after the dancing.

She smiled at his response and kissed him back softly before following his lead to the booth. She slid in next to him and leaned against him. It felt surreal. Earlier that afternoon you couldn't have paid her to go to a rodeo... Now she couldn't imagine what she was going to do in a few days once he left town.

Jake looked down at Kali nestled into his side and could almost feel the mood changing, knowing that he felt it himself due to leaving. The night was wearing on, and with it, his time with Kali was getting shorter. He sighed softly, before mentally shaking himself. He leaned down slightly to kiss the top of her head, whispering softly, "No sadness. We have at least two days, since the show is traveling to a town that isn't too far away. We will fill those two days with as much together time as we can."

She smiled at his encouraging words. She hadn't even had to speak her thoughts or concerns out loud for him to already know. She looked up and nodded her head in understanding, "I plan on enjoying every second I get to spend with you." She kissed his lips softly.
