"Rachel- give me a break... Professional Bull Riding? Does that sound like my idea of fun?" Kali laughed as her best friend/ roommate tried to convince her of all the du she would be missing by not going to the PBR. Rachel was the most insistent person Kali had ever met so she knew it was inevitable... She would be going too. She quit arguing since it was pointless and got ready to go.

They arrived at the arena, Kali wearing the short jean skirt and little tank top, finishing the outfit with a pair of cowboy boots that she had worn one Halloween ages ago. Kali was surprised at the amount of people who were in attendance. Of course Rachel knew somebody and they ended up with seats right above the shoots where they came out. They got their beers and took their seats. Kali was a little overwhelmed as she looked around taking it all in. The bull riders all took seats along the rail and Kali couldn't help but to check them out... They were in damn good shape and there was one in particular..... He seemed to glance up in her direction and she smiled and then shook her head laughing- there was no way he could even really make out individuals in the stands anyway.....

(Looking for a gentleman to play my bull rider)

I'm interested. Can you elaborate on how oyu want the story to go?

Jake stood, waiting to see which bull he drew to ride for the first round. He knew that the current pool had several nasty bulls, even more so than normal. Original Sin was the nastiest, at least from what he'd heard from the other riders. He didn't want to draw Original Sin in the first round, but wouldn't be surprised if he did. "Knowing my luck, and the way the bible belt frowns on the activity I had last night, Original Sin would be fitting," he muttered under his breath, thinking of the most recent one night stand he had had. It was getting old, if he was truly being honest with himself, and he was honestly ready to find something steady. The only problem was, no girl wanted to date a bull rider.

He grinned as he drew one of the more "mild" bulls, Whiskey River. He hoped it would be a good warm up, at least to shake the cobwebs out. He stepped back, noticing he was set to ride 4th in the first round. As he walked out of the room, he pulled his vest on and zipped it up. He knew the injuries he old get, but he'd been riding since he was 7, busting broncos at 13, and then moving to bulls when he graduated high school. At 22, he was still one of the younger riders, but was lucky to have only gotten a broken arm. He knew of riders who had had much, much worse. He sighed, before heading out to the rails to sit and watch the first riders. Out of habit he scanned the crowd, noticing a slightly better than average turnout. He thought he saw at least one girl catch his eye, but just shrugged it off, focusing on the ride ahead of him.

Kali watched as cowboy after cowboy took their turn on their Bulls. She bit her lip and was in awe just as the rest of the crowd. These guys were insane!!! Finally the one rider who had attracted her attention took his turn. She was on the edge of her seat as she watched what felt like hours tick by in the longest 8 seconds of her life. She was jumping up and down screaming and cheering as he jumped up and over the fence again.

As it started to wind down some they walked out to join the meet and greets. As Rachel pulled Kali from rider to rider she found herself standing in front of him... She smiled as Rachel went on and on about his skills and asking if he was going to the after party that night at the local country bar. Kali just shook her head laughing, there was no getting a word in with her around... Not that Kali really knew what to say in the first place...

Jake smiled slightly as the first three riders all had good rides. He knew that would be tough in and of itself to beat, but for the first three riders to score high 80s set the bar high. As he neared his ride, he pulled his haf down tight, made sure his grip was secure one last time, and then waited for the bell. It had to be the longest 8 seconds of his life, listening to the other rider's score, before finally the bell rang.

Jake had learned to stay loose, while making sure he stayed upright and secure in his grip. The bull jerk ed and jumped, but he stayed on until the buzzer so ded, making a quick dismount and running to the fence. Too many times had he seen a bull turn and catch a rider as they tried to get away. He climbed the fence and sighed happily, not fully hearing the 92.3 score he got. He knew it was solid, and hoped it would stick.

The rest of the night flew by. His last ride went over well enough to earn third, and then headed to the meet and greets. They weren't always his favorite part, as he always felt like either he was trying to be picked up, or he was looking for someone to pick up. Luckily, the girl whose eye he thought he caught showed, as did her friend. He had hoped to ask her to the after party at the bar, but her friend wouldn't let him get a word in, until she asked about the after party. "I am indeed," he answered, before asking, "Will I see you two there?" while looking at the girl he hoped would be there.

Kali realized he was looking at her as he asked the question. She glanced at Rachel and Rachel quickly jabbed her in the rib cage, "it looks like we will be there... Along with about 100 of your fans." She smiled at the cowboy.. There was just something about him. His attention was called away as another one of the riders called him name and Kali and Rachel headed towards the doors.

"He was totally into you!" Rachel squealed, "and he was gorgeous!!" Kali shook her head laughing, "you're exaggerating rach. Well about the totally into me part... He was pretty damn hot tho." She laughed as they climbed into Rachel's little car and hoped to beat the crowd to the bar.

Again, it was a good thing Rachel knew everybody and got them in thru a side entrance. They made a lap around the country bar and were soon swept away to the dance floor to do some line dance. Kali couldn't help but to laugh, she was a dancer but she didn't often find herself doing much line dancing. The song ended and she made her way to the side, taking a seat on a stool as she made polite conversation with those around her.

Jake smiled as he heard the answer he was looking for. He knew that it was a shot in the dark that she'd want to date, especially since he was traveling right now, and it would be hard to find any time together unless she came with him. He doubted that would happen.

As another rider called to him, he excused himself. Before shooting an angry look at his friend, he made sure to get one last look at the girl as she walked away. Yep, he realized, he definitely wanted something steady.

The ride to the bar didn't take long, as the tour provided designated drivers when it was a multinight show. He smiled at the line dancing he saw when he walked in, before heading to the bar, hoping to run into the girl. "I shoulda got her name," he said softly after taking a sip of his beerm

Kali was just making conversation and trying to be polite as she looked around the bar. There were an awful lot of people crammed in the place, did she really think she was going to find him?

She finally excused herself and made her way to the bar to order a beer. As she got closer she spotted him, standing with a few others talking. She smiled as he looked up and they made eye contact. As he excused himself and walked over she ran her fingers thru her hair... Was she nervous?! "Hey there... You guys seem to draw quite the crowd don't you?" She said as she motioned towards the crowd

Jake smiled as he saw the girl start walking his way, and quickly grabbed his beer to do the same. He wanted to see what she would say at the very least, after not being able to get a word in while her friend was talking. Plus, he would hopefully convince her to go on a date while he was still in town

"I don't fully think that's us drawing a crowd. From what I understand, this bar can get pretty packed," he said with a chuckle, before motioning to an empty booth.

"I'm Jake, but I'm pretty sure you knew that already," he said, before taking a sip of his beer, waiting to hear her name. He knew it was a cliche thought, but this beautiful of a girl had to ha e a beautiful name as well.

She smiled and nodded her head. "I'm Kali. It's nice to meet you... Officially at least." She followed his lead to the empty booth and slid into one side. "I've gotta admit that I've never been to a rodeo before. Quite the experience. You guys had me on the edge of my seat... But I suppose that's the whole idea." She realized that she was ruling, something she did when she was nervous and she picked up her beer and took a sip, giving herself time to compose herself.

Jake smiled, before shrugging. "You know, my first rodeo as a kid actually scared me. I saw a guy get thrown into the rail by a bull, and it almost made me not want to do it. Then I grew up and realized you can get hurt just by walking, so decided to do something I would enjoy," he said with a smile, before tapping the side of his jaw. "If you've never been to a rodeo, what made you come to this one?"

She laughed and shrugged, "Rachel." She shook her head, "if you couldn't tell, she's damn near impossible to say no to." She sipped her beer. "she convinced me that I simply couldn't miss it... That I would have a good time... And I have to admit, I've had a good time..... I can't imagine doing that once let alone night after night... "

Jake nodded. "It gets pretty intense, which is why it's nice to have these breaks. Plus, we all know what could happen, so we tend to really revel I those breaks in pace...speaking of which, would you like to grab dinner tomorrow?" He asked, taking a sip of his drink as he waited for the answer.

She took a sip of her beer as he described his lifestyle. He threw her off when he asked her to dinner. "Dinner?" She hesitated a few seconds watching him wait to hear her answer before she responded, "I would like that...a lot." She smiled across the booth from him.

Jake breathed a sigh of relief. "I think it's safe to say that I felt more nervous waiting for your answer than I did riding Whiskey River tonight," he said with a grin of his own, before taking a long pull of his drink. He set the beer down, grabbed Kali's hand, and pulled her our of the booth. "I can drink anywhere. I can only dance with you here," he said, smiling as he pulled her onto the dance floor.

She laughed and shook her head at his comment, then before she knew it her hand was in his and he was pulling her to the dance floor. She stepped into his arms as they fell into step with the rest of the people already dancing. She smiled at him, "ahh this bull rider has moves huh?" She winked at him as he twirled her around in a circle and she returned to his arms.

Jame nodded. "I grew up in the south, so had to learn to dance, and court a lady, and all that fun stuff. But I still know how to get down and dirty with the rest of the boys," he said, before dipping her.

She laughed as he dipped her and then pulled her back up. "Well I must admit, I'm impressed!"

She realized she was having a really good time with him and they had just met... It would be just her luck to find a good guy... And have him be gone in only a couple of days time. She pushed that out of her head and focused on the here and now. The song changed to a slower number and they stepped closer together, moving slowly around the dance floor.

Jake smiled as a slow song he recognized came on. Without realizing it, he had Kali in his arms as he softly sang along. He couldn't remember the last time he had enjoyed something as simple as dancing in a very long time. He just wished there were a way to keep this beautiful girl in his arms next to him to see if there was a chance for the spark to grow.

The air had gotten heavier and her skin was flushed as the song came to an end. As they stepped back from each other she smiled at him, "it got a little warm in here didn't it?" She glanced towards the side door, "you wanna step outside for some fresh air for a minute?" She didn't really wait for an answer as she turned and led the way to the door, her hand still in his as she pushed the door open. The night air felt good as she breathed in the crisp fall air. She turned and faced him, smiling.

Jake took a deep breath of fresh air once they were outside. "It did get a bit hot in there. But it was a lot of fun," he said with a smile, before taking a chance and leaning in to softly kiss Kali.

She nodded her head in agreement. "I've had a good time too." She was surprised when he leaned in and kissed her... Even more shocking was how light and.... Sweet the kiss was. It wasn't forceful or pushy. It was simply a kiss. It sent sparks thru her body and then it was over almost as quickly as it had happened. She blushes lightly as he pulled back. Not sure what to say.

James leaned back, closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose. I had felt the spark in that kiss, and knew that he wanted to give it a chance to grow. It was a risk, but he had to try. "I'm gonna lay it all out here, since this might be the last time I see you before I leave, but I have to be honest, even if it scares you out of dinner. There was a spark there, and I don't want this to be a one night stand. I want this to have a chance, but it'd be a long shot. I'm on the road for the tour, and you're here. Unless you can somehow travel for your work, it'd have to be long distance until the off season. I gotta know if you feel the same way, or if we should just call dinner off now," he said softly, laying it all out there for her.

Her jaw slowly dropped. Guys just didn't talk like that anymore. She heard him out and contemplated what he had said, "So you felt it too huh?" She smiled as she reached out and took his hand. "Listen, I make no promises about anything.... I just feel like there's something here.. Between us. And that we owe it to ourselves to see where it takes us." She smiled at him, "so no, I'm not going to turn and run, and I definitely still expect dinner with you tomorrow." She stepped towards him and kissed his cheek lightly. "I'm in this if you are... If you're really serious about seeing where it takes us."

Jake nodded enthusiastically. "I am definitely in to see where this takes us. The question is, how do we handle the distanfe, if we handle it? We don't know too much about each other, now that I think about it," he said, chuckling lightly at the situation, but happy things seemed to be moving forward.
