JCPenny online shop by age (size) has the following category "7-16"

Rest assured, I do not want my 9 year old dressing like a 16 year old!

Ahhhhhhhhh! What's this world coming to?

My mother took my daughter shopping. They saw shirts that say things like "hottie" "too hot to handle" and so forth:rolleyes: Come on- can't it at least wait till she's 12?

Even then. Would my mom have let me wear a 'too hot to handle' t-shirt at 12? maybe 15- if I fought hard enough for it!

...for guys, not such a big deal.

dude, where'd the smirk go?

What *is* a big deal, is trying to find *any* clothes for a boy who is out of toddler sizes and not yet into mens or teens. (age 5-12 or so) Oh it's frustrating. The selection is so small. I guys guys are supposed to skip from babyhood (aww, how cute!) to full grown men over night. (or swim in clothes that make Harry Potter look overfed by comparison)

I've seen nine and ten year olds with that word (Hottie) blazened across the asses of their jeans.

WHAT... THE... HELL?????

I swear some people have no sense, brains, scruples, decency, whatever.

Of course you're fucking right!!! That was what my "Well, D'UH!!!" comment was all about.

the age category 7-16 I can live with. It's the 16-year-olds who dress like 18 that are the real problem!

JMHO.

Both of my grandaughters shop in that size range (even though the younger isn't quite that age yet.)

There's a lot of size variation in that age range if the parade of school kids pat my door in the mornings is any indication. There's also lot of style variation within that size range -- it's just as easy to dress your 16 year-old like a 9 year-old as it is the reverse.

It is difficult to find clothing for any age without slogans and rude logos, but not impossible -- even at J.C Penneys.

But 16 year olds do dress like 18 year olds, don't they? That *is* the problem I have with it.

Well, they do in this country anyway, where the age of consent also happens to be 16.

It really doesn't bother me if 16 year olds dress like 18 year olds. They are both teenagers after all.

Nine year olds however, are not teenagers. Despite the already apparent teenage attitude.

You indeed live in an advanced country!

We do indeed have a lot of things better in this country than you have in US. I think so anyway. But our government seems intent on changing that.

Anyway, back to kids clothes.

I sincerely hate to bust anybody's bubble here, but I worked as a Merchandise Manager for JCPenney for over 7 years, and did the buying for the Girls, Boys, and Infants departments, as well as for a couple of others.

7-16 is not an age category, it is a size category. Most kids wear a size much larger than their age. Example: my 4 year old wears 5's and 6's in clothing.

Sorry, y'all.

Yes, I know. But it is roughly equivelent. (this is the children's section of the store) Children's size are roughly equivelent to age, wearas adult sizes of course have nothing to do with age.

It really isn't equivalent, Sweet. I don't think I ever saw a 16 year old shopping in my Girls department. By the time most girls are 13 or 14 they've already moved to the juniors department.

It really is like that, I promise. Nice to get all indignant about, but sizes 7-16 have absolutely nothing to do with age.

the online catalog doesn't have a junior department. That was my point.

No big deal - put him in frocks. At the pace things are moving, 99% of males will be homosexuals by the time he hits his teens. As 50% of them will not be taking the butch lead, he stands a good chance of being correctly dressed. :)
