500 + threads on our new forum~!

It feels really weird in a good way to know there are people among us, those we call our own, who've never known our community in any form other than this forum.

Rock on, indeed.

That *is* a weird idea, isn't it?

We're like a Virginia Slims ad campaign...we've come a long way, baby.

And, I got a new crop this week. Not that it's related, but it's making me very happy. I like it. I really like it. :)

Count me among those A.M. (after monster thread) Well, I read some of it, but in the process, this board sprang up and I started running my mouth here.

Congrats to cym and Risia and WD for monitoring the best run board I have ever visited in my 15 years of frequenting various boards, and I mean the best of boards of ANY topic.

And congrats to the many contributors here. All in all, I think it's been a class act. We've come a long way indeed.

And Risia: the last time I saw someone so happy about a crop they were rolling it up in packs of zig-zags.

It has indeed. And thanks to everyone here for keeping the conversation lively and productive--at least, for the vast majority of the time. ;)

LOL. Good one, monster.
But, I don't *grow* crops, I *buy* crops. It's cheaper and lasts longer and it hurts oh-so-good! Take that however you will. :p

*grabs the sparklers, black cats, and noise makers* WOOHOOO for us! I've only been here a short time, but I think it's great that there are so many wonderful people sharing what they know here. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone!

Namaste,
Kes

Well, it just struck me, weekend one of the new forum, some of us were concerned the forum would lay dormant with a few general threads and few visitors.

I can remember scrambling through my little mind and the monster thread for ideas for thread starters.

I can remember pm ing with someone about how pleased we were that we had a page of active threads.

Yes, there some anxiety involved with starting the new forum.
There was a lot of anxiety involved in starting the new forum :)

And now, it seems we have built a healthy foundation and the integrity of the forum has remained in tact.

Yes, great job to the moderators and all who post here!

:)

My thoughts precisely, Miss T. I remeber the very first day the new forum was openned and there was cym directing traffic... Ok you take care of that thread and you over there take of that one LOL

Oh yes we have come a long, long way. The new faces have enhanced the forum and brought such new perspectives with them.

Thanks to Risia, cym and WD for all the hard work they have put into this forum.

And thanks to all the new faces for stopping in and sharing with the rest of us.

I just want to mention

and hope not to start a flame war...

One of the things that I enjoy about the forum is that their is no deliniation or conflict between "newbies" and "oldies." That stuff gets tired after a bit.

Everyone is treated with respect unless, as cym mentioned on another thread, we are all cycling at the same time! (And even then, number of posts or presence on the board has nothing to do with who the victims are!)

:p

I knew that and still I couldn't resist.

Since you offered, I'll take it here in Connecticut, but we'll have to work out details in PM so cym doesn't accuse us of turning this into a personals thread.

That is the main thing that I find so refressing about THIS board/forum over any that I have been part of (even as a moderator!)

And as a newbie, both to the lifestyle AND to the forum (still reading like mad in an attempt to catch up) I must say just what a wonderful experience this is!

Thanks all

In all seriousness, the oldies vs newbies kinda mindset is a horror to me. It's so prevalent in so many online places, and takes so much away from those who've just arrived.

I've been online a very long time. I've been a newbie in a number of places during my online tenure - and in most of those places was treated rather badly until i'd been there long enough to pass some line in the sand, after which i was magically accorded more respect.

That kinda crap is completely counter to who we are as BDSM'ers, is it not? We offer our basic respect to those that chance sends our way until/unless they prove they are not worthy of that from us - and then we take it back and trust them no more.

That respect issue is central to us as people, as sexual people, as those who've decided to be open (at least here) about who and what we are with respect to our form of alternative sexuality. We know, however, that BDSM is a way of thinking about oneself and the world - not just a way of fucking.

The others out there, they don't know that.
But we do.
And so in our own home, here, we act in accordance with deeply held principles of respect for those we chance upon. With respect comes an open-minded attitude toward that which is new and different. With respect and open-mindedness comes tolerance in its purest form.

And that's what makes us who we are here: respect, open-mindedness and tolerance.

It doesn't make us any better than anyone else because even the most narrowminded of people, the least tolerant, are struggling to make sense of thier lives, just as we are - but it does make us able to extend a warmly welcoming hand to almost anyone who comes our way with sincere questions, doesn't it?

So, yes! Definitely, strenously, for-sure - YES!
Newbies, tweeners, and oldsters to this community: all have an important part to play within the incessant weaving, the warp and weft, of our communal tapestry.

I am rather new here, but like what I have found, and i am very glad that everyone had the nuts to stand up and say here I am and this is ME.
So today I decided to find out where it all started and have jumped into The Mother Thread head first, I will check back when I come up for air.
