40 things I love about you

My SO is turning 40 in a few months, and I've been wondering what I might do that would be fun and special. One of my friends mentioned that when he turned 40, his sister wrote down 40 things she loved about him on separate pieces of paper which she turned into origami and planted all around his house, which he thought was really sweet.

I like the idea of 40 things I love about you, especially since mine would include all kinds of sexual things.

Thing is, I'm not so capable of origami and my SO wouldn't really be into that so much, either, so I'd like to come up with a different 'delivery' method. Like, I could buy 40 bottles of Guinness and put stickers on each one...

Any ideas?

I like this idea. Since I love dark beer, if my wife presented this to me on 40 Guinness bottles, I would think it was a fantastic gift. :)
I agree. Nothing says love like 40 containers of thin hops pudding. :D

Can you imagine, though, if his friends came over to watch the game and started pulling beers out of the fridge...I love you for the way you tickle my...

A few months? Goodie!

How about this one then?

Make 40 Fortune Cookies and place them in a nice bowl on your nightstand (bedside table or how do you call that) about 40 days (and nights, haha) before he turns 40.

Now, tell him he gets to take one out every night and open it. You choose what to put on the small pieces of paper but as you mentioned your love declarations may also involve things of a sexual nature.... well...? I assume it will be plenty of encouragement (so to speak) for at least 40 hot nights leading up to his birthday!

BlackDog's Valentine Fortune Cookie Recipe

1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup salad oil
1/2 cup egg whites (whites of about 4 large eggs)
1 tablespoon water
2 tablespoons vanilla

Prepare "fortune," poems or love notes to include in cookies. Cut or fold the paper so that it's approximately 1 inch by 3 inches.

Mix all the dry ingredients together. Then add oil and egg whites, beating until smooth. Beat in water and vanilla. Drop 1/3 cup of batter onto a greased baking sheet and spread evenly into a 10-inch circle. Bake only one or two at a time in a 300-degree oven for about 14 minutes or until light golden brown. (If underbaked, cookie will tear during shaping.) With a wide spatula, remove one cookie at a time from the oven.

Working quickly, flip the baked cookie onto your hand. (Use a towel or wear cotton gloves to keep the cookie from sticking to your hand). Place a fortune in the center of cookie and fold it in half. Do not crease the cookie. Then fold the two ends of the cookie toward each other and hold together for a couple of minutes while the cookie becomes firm. Repeat steps until all the batter is used.

Makes six large fortune cookies.

If I did this for my wife, her knowing that all those cookies each had another note in it, and her not knowing what it said, this would drive her nuts. I love it!

That would be the whole idea :D

Love, lust and anticipation, the perfect combination?

I'll have to start taking notes. I've got to come up with more than 40.
Do the Jack Benny thing and stop at 39. Tell her she hasn't aged in at least that long so why continue to count?

She's older than me by about 3 months and hates this fact (really, what's 3 months?) so for 3 months each year her age integer is one more than mine. It's hard to predict what her response might be.

I am 7 years older than M. He certainly does not care about it. Deep in my heart I wish it was the other way around; guess I was raised like that; with ideas like that (although my mother is also older than my father).

In the end I don't mind though... We both are who we are and we love each other. At our age (hear me; I sound like an OLD woman  ) it doesn't matter anymore.

When I see a 7 year old (like M's eldest son at this moment) I sometimes think: "I was like that (well, not a boy  ) and then you were born"... It is what it is....

Yeah, but those things come out one at a time. That's why I have to take notes.

MrB is older than me by 4 measly days, but you can bet for those 4 days, I never let him forget who's older. ;)

40 small envelopes. Each with a card describing something you love about your SO. Each scented lightly with a favorite pefume, or with a red rose petal enclosed with the card.

Oh, this is such a fun idea! And thank you for the recipe!

I won't be able to do this, though. We're long distance right now, so I couldn't be there for the 40 hot nights leading up to his birthday. :(

On the other hand, I could send him the cookies with 40 hot masturbation fantasies inside, so when I get there for his birthday, he's all hot and bothered and stuff. Not that he isn't usually anyway, but you know. ;)

That's so romantic. :rose:

I'm thinking my guy isn't so romantic, not in the rose petal kind of way. He might appreciate it, but I think he needs something more 'manly'.

This whole turning 40 thing is getting to him. He never lets stuff get to him, but he's been mentioning this upcoming milestone since he turned 39.

OK, stems with thorns then ;) Woehaaa!

Will you let us know which idea you decided upon in the end?

He was an American comedian who joked that he was 39 all the time. He probably lived to be at least twice that.

Replace the rose pedals with a clipping of a womens sexual parts from some mens magazines. :D
