My biggest problem with modern day liberials

My biggest problem with modern day liberals is the poor quality vegan food at all the pot lucks.

That post had less to do with the specifics than with the assertion that because someone preaches tolerance they should be tolerant of killing babies, be it in Vietnam or elsewhere.

So we should eternally shame Vietnam vets because they went to a war they didn't start and believed the lies their government told them?

Help me out here.

You know PC, you and I have danced this dance so many times.....well, I guess my POV can be best summed up thusly:

I'm more than willing to not talk about Vietnam and to let the subject slide into historical oblivion. What I object to is A) Vietnam vets asking for more of their Propas(and wishy washy folk like Lav giving them) and B) Criticizing those who were smart enought to reject thousands of years of "Fight when your country tells you to fight" impulses and object to the war.

It should be forgotten as a bad thing. If other people were content to let it die, I would be too.

Richard you have a fantastic 4th of July. LadyAura

No, my feelings on the Vietnam war have more to do with the fact that I value the lives of Military personnel as much as I do civilian lives so I think that fighting a war that shouldn't be fought is a bad thing in and of itself. 4 million Vietnamese died because not enough people told the US government to go tell a flying fuck.

And they aren't blameless for that decision.

and this has nothing to do with me
trying...maybe poorly....but trying
to share my experence of coming home
an experence I relive every year this time

your compassion is lacking
your understanding is nil
and you facts are like Redwaves
off the mark

When civilians come up to you with bombs strapped to 'em, whatcha gonna do? Defend yourself with harsh language?

do you think that might work ?

With the obligatory shots at Protestors.

And for the record I saw the movie A Path to War so I'm pretty confident in my knowledge of the facts.

Weevil

U win

I am unsubscribing from my own thread
I had hope to do some healing here
but like so many assholes
you rob people with your bad facts and piss poor attutide

I have NEVER seen anything constructive on the GB
and you have provin to me that anyone that comes here
will be injuried further

Good luck to you
and stay out of my face in the future
As with Redwave my opinion of you
is beyond low

I guess the fourth of July has a different twist for you.....I know many VN vets and they are all good people...Some are a little "off" but then again from the stories I've heard it would seem impossible not to be..........It's unfortunate you had to come home to that kind of a reception..At least you got over it....We all have sad days in memory on all levels....Happy fourth to you Rich and thank you for serving.................:D

And I think you're fooling yourself into thinking, "Gee, if the American people had only protested a little harder, they could have stopped Vietnam almost from the beginning. What a bunch of lazy, heartless bastards they are."

That's just not true. It was a different time, and people generally still trusted politicians and generals. Remember- Vietnam and Watergate were the two big events in American history that caused Americans to really start questioning their government.

You think we didn't do enough to stop the war? This country practically tore itself apart in the process of stopping that war.

I know we've gone over this before, but what blows me away is you weren't alive at that time, yet through your 20/20 hindsight you have all the answers.

People aren't perfect and neither are countries. Governments sure as hell aren't perfect.

This country, still to this day has a lot of guilt over Vietnam, but we aren't going to lay it at the feet of the soldiers. We can show a little respect to those who've sacrificed and still understand that the war was unjust and a really big fucking mistake.

Those two ideas are not at odds in any way.

nope you are not

There was a lovely person that came to the BDSM thread
names Lance something
He became know as Lance the Moron
He called the local police here on me for being into BDSM
etc
etc

Well then I must withdraw all the rude things I've said to you over the past number of months.

It was a great disappointment to me when I (mistakenly) saw you calling me a Moron over and over...because prior to that I'd thought we'd had a decent rapport.

So I flamed you back.

Oops.

Sorry.

Right, so why don't we let it stay in the past? Why the obligatory annual posts from someone who says that Vietnam vets aren't thanked enough or that Protestors are pussies that couldn't find their way into Canada?

Maybe if I added smilies and an LOL someone with an IQ in the 70's could pick up on sarcasm.

Let it stay in the past?

We should just forget a war that lasted ten years and took 58,000 lives American lives aling with the millions of Vietnamese?

Should we stop printing history books about it and send all the vets to a compound in Alaska?

Goddamn, you really amaze me.

Wow, it's always nice to have a hyperbole free, adult conversation here.

Jesus, is there something about talking about Vietnam that turns you into a perpetual Douchebag or what?

They should have been shot on sight.........along with your sorry ass.............

Funny...but, I was just going to ask you that!

Oh, BTW, I'll do a search on "Weevil" and see if I can find some hyperbole. Probably take me about ten seconds.

LMFAO

Hey, I'm not the one who wants to brush Vietnam under the old area rug.

What say we go to hypnosis and try to get rid of those nasty cold war memories too, eh?

They're disturbing...

*shudders*

See, this is what I mean. I could recite In Flanders Field and you'd accuse me of being Pro-Feces throwing.

Your responses have nothing to do with what I'm saying because you're trying to make some point. You're so indoctrinated on this issue that this conversation is beyond pointless.

Don't you have some rant on the Collectivist mindset that needs posting?

That's bullshit.

I posted my opinion on what I thought was your position and you said we should just forget about it..."Let it stay in the past" were your words.

After that you started attacking me personally.

Brilliant deflection strategy I must say.

I mean, are you just C&P'ing from JMJ right now or are you actually typing these things out?

If I meant forget I would have said forget. We look at and examine the past. We study the past. At my university we had a whole section of the Social Science faculty devoted to it. We called it History.

I said it should be left in the past and you start talking to me like I'm REDWAVE. Fuck you and your righteous indignation.
