30 in 30 Companion Thread

Mer, 1/21 how did you come to write that? I'm asking because I have a large deposit of it on the place

Hello, if we could keep the 30/30 thread pretty and full of poems, please replace deletions with something poetic. Thanks! :rose:

Mer's #25 poem is one of the best erotic poems I've seen lately. A technical quibble: I think that the familiar figure of speech is "he could barely contain his impatience", and "patience" seems odd. "He was naked then, in all ways" -- great line.

Well you knocked that one out of the park. I tried so hard to find awful words, too! I was trying to get back at Remec for the Mexican cooking scent (that hangs on my poem like an afterthought!), but you saved him and are triumphant. :D :rose:

well, she's feeling better, I couldn't find the 5 senses comment thread either and gave up, sex smells like cumin? :)

Reminds me of that old joke where a brunette, a redhead and a blonde are riding in an elevator, and the brunette says, "Say, is that a cumin stain on the wall?"

Thank you - that was a stinker.....subjects and poem <wince emoticon> mind you, I did the same - chose senses that I thought'd be difficult. :D

Remec's 9-30 Paradelle!

A great end to your latest run, R! And while reading it, perhaps after all the dust settles on the current challenges, we should start a paradelle thread. They're a fun challenge to write. (Did I just say that? That and a hole in my head...). Back to work.

Congrats Remec! I've lost count of how many times you've done this now. Amazing persistence you have!

And Mer, your poem today is just beautiful writing. I really enjoyed reading it.

Thank you, Angeline!

I hope you are feeling much better!

By the way - if I wanted to recommend a poem I have seen recently that I really like, from a non-Lit poet, where would be a good place to post? The default would be to make a new thread, but if there is one for this purpose already.... please point me to it. Thanks!

Thanks for the good wishes, Mer. I have a long recovery ahead of me but I am definitely better than I was and I continue to move in the right direction. It's a haul though: being disabled, even temporarily, is a full-time job and then some--at least in the beginning when you're trying to get everything you need!

As to your question: we have Tzara's Recommend A Book thread in the Hangout. I don't see why we couldn't have a "Recommend A Poem" thread as well. If we do, I think the person making the recommendation should (briefly) say why others would want to read the poem being recommended. My other concern would be (as Piscator noted in another conversation) that we're not going over old chestnuts that everyone already read in high school or college--unless, of course, there is a fresh way of looking at them. Otherwise, we should just do it imo. Do you want to start it off or should I make the thread? Either way is fine with me. :)

It really is a good idea.

Congrats on finishing another 30/30 run, Remec! :)

Remec congrats on yet another 30/30

Thanks, ev'ryone! I've lost track, myself, Ange...I think this is, like, number 4 I've completed, maybe  I think I'm going to plan out the next one (of course there'll be a next one, eventually) so that even on busy days I have something of a theme to hold to and not have to rely on fibs and ASes quite so much at the last moment.

Glad to hear you're on the mend. Take it easy, take it slow, and good luck!

Either one of us could put a thread up but I probably need a day to get my thoughts together on why I like the poem, other than that, well, I just really do! No, it's not any of the obvious suspects, I don't think.

It's just that I've got a bunch of work stuff AND the poem for today's closing 30/30... pressure! pressure!! *chews fingernails to the bone*

No problem, my friend. I'll post the thread tonight (when I'm more with it--both my nurse and physical therapist visited today and I fell asleep after they left). *Falters off in search of coffee.*

Don't sweat that last poem. Pretend it's the 14th one and you're just slogging away in the middle of the challenge. :rose:
