2012

Not the space bar, the enter key. six lines is about all the eye can take on a computer screen. One of the first things a writer needs to learn when writing for the net.

Actually, I'd like the other scenario better. It would sure liven the place up a lot and clear a bunch of the trash out of peoples heads.

Learned that day one. Even six lines make some people grumpy. Did I say space bar? Oops...meant enter

Not sure about first scenario. War torn world? Doesn't sound like much fun.

Given the scenario, I can't really see a war torn world. Riots and suicides sure but a lot of people would just shrug and say, "Told ya so." or "Well, I'll be damned."

JBJ I think what you described fits most of the people on the forum...including me. Not Gods anymore (my Gods aren't bossy ;) ) but I know I'm not the only one that's mentioned characters talking to me, telling me how they want the story to develop.

So does that mean the mutants are the people who are boring and not creative? Or are the religious zealots the ones that haven't mutated?

No.

Think of the distribution as SCHIZOPHRENIC on one end, and SOCIOPATHy on the other. Two-thirds of modern humans are about in the middle...rational-conscious about half the time and aware of voices-hunches-feelings the other half. Sociopaths dont have the voices or conscience, theyre strictly predatory....like snakes. Schizophrenics are too fouled with their hallucinations and thought disorders to function. Most of us are a balnce of the two extremes.

Sorry, I promise to use the Enter key more often. The ideas being presented in the writings say that it will be a time of great change and enlightenment. I agree that wars won't take place, as people will looking for a new meaning to live, instead of a way to die. It's the disillutioned that will have a positive referrence to go on, to believe in something. (press enter key now)

The turmoil of religion and science will rage for several years, but the evidence will speak for itself and wars will end. They're mostly over religion and beliefs anyway. People will come together and be more as one. This is all hypothesis, as is any understanding of the true meaning of what is written. (press key now)

People would have no choice but to follow the facts instead of belief. Hence, no more religion, no more wars, more money for research and development of whatever technologies can be exumed from the wreckage. Almost a taste of Terminator, if you will. (press now)

It follows the concept of the writings and Mayans were big on everything to do with space. Their heirogliphs depict other beings and crafts that resemble planes and our depictions of space craft shaped objects resemble theirs. (press)

Hell of a theory, but what if? Again, the big fucking rock theory makes for great interest as well. Maybe we can have a movie for both and see who does a better job of convincing us.

Jim Bakker's ready. God spoke to him and he's already selling survival food. A $1,000 "Love Gift" gets you 9 months of food (20 year shelf life) for 2 people plus an assortment of useful items--all purpose tool, spoons, water filters, folding grill, air filter masks, etc.

The above was a TV special--I don't think it's listed on his web site.

On December 24, 2012 the world will be just the way it was on the 21st. How do I know? That's what happens every time some cretin predicts the end of the world. It's been going on since the dawn of civilization.

Actually, the 24th will be a madhouse. Only 1 shopping day until Christmas. ;)

Whatever happens, one thing is certain: TEX will greet it refueled, with several gourds of corn aboard.

What is it with you and me drinking? I drink a few beers ever so often and maybe a shot or two of Jack around my birthday or Christmas. Other than that, I drink coffee, green tea, milk, and dr pepper.

I think it's you that needs to lay off the sauce.

Quit making assumptions about someone you know nothing about.

Okay so I just saw all the trailors...I think...and the movie looks awesome (if you're into disaster movies, which I am :D )

I'm just wondering what people think of the whole Apocalypse thing. Believe it? Don't believe it? Hope you can watch someone you really don't like go down before you do?

Personally I'm not sure what I think, but I know I'm not going to worry about it until there's something concrete to worry about. If it is true one thing made me giggle. Because I'm strange :D but anyway.

Guess we wouldn't have to worry about global warming ;)

Here's a wiki excerpt about the 2012 Phenomenon. Might look for more later. Found one thing was interesting, the alien referance. See we have had contact. They told our ancestors we were all going to die in five thousand some odd years! :p

I'm interested in the movie. The trailers look good, but my hopes aren't high since the movie comes from the same director who did 'The Day After Tomorrow'. Well, I expect some great graphics and a lot of fun, and good popcorn, but no real story. :)

As for the 2012 phenomenon ... I began my University career in archaeology and I am still interested in both archaeology and anthropology. The Mayans were incredible astronomers, but I am not convinced that ending their calendar in 2012 was something of their choosing. What will happen in 2012 is that the planets will align with what the Mayans believed was the centre of the universe. Some people say that such an alignment could cause a magnetic shift in the poles that would result in another period of extinction. If our poles reversed, then sure, I'd be concerned, very concerned with what could happen, but as far as science goes, the poles won't reverse for a long time coming.

I think that you and I need to be more worried about global warming. While nothing may happen in our lifetimes, if we don't stop the melting of the North and South poles now, there will be another ice age. Brrr, and I mean BRRR!

The magnetic poles are in the process of shifting and reversing. The effect of life on earth will be nil. It has happened many times in the past and it will happen many times in the future. Nothing ever happened to the life on the planet before and there is no reason to believe that it will happen this time.

Do not, however, hold your breath waiting.

I agree that there is no reason for us to worry now, or even in 2012. :)

I like your theory Charlie. The planets are supposed to align themselves in that time and the gravitational pull from the gas giants wil certainly have an effect on Earth. Whether it pulls us farther away in orbit or re-positions the alignment of the poles, can both have catastrophic results. Everyone will be rushing to Canada to learn cold weather survival techniques and learn to build igloos. A little walrus blubber anyone?

That is not my theory or belief, PREM. However, as for fashion in 2012? Well, Walrus blubber makes sense, but don't tell PETA that I am stock piling! :D

Bang!!!

Well since everyone seems to have their own theory, I think I will add mine, which I am sure is 100% correct. They will stop making twinkies, the masses will riot, countries will crumble under the peoples boots, only to find it out it was a youtube hoax... opps!

Ah, the sounds of rubber bullets and the smell of tear gas in the morning.

On the other hand.... it's hard to dig a foxhole at the corner of fifth and main.
