2012

Oh great, someone's already selling t-shirts. Hope they cover all the possible outcomes on the front. I'd be embarrassed to die in a shirt that foretold the wrong disaster.

Not yet, Still working on that! As well as some for when nothing happens! :D

:D I can just picture it. Harems everywhere, orgies, parties.

Damn where's that meteor!

We'll need to hijack some beer trucks. The semi-trailer kind. In all the confusion that'll be easy.

Then raid a few American Outfitters or Bass Pro Shop stores for clothing and equipment and we'll be set. :D

Can we spin by a Cabela's on the way? I love those stores.

All these preparations for an illustrious death is making me hungry. I wonder if a pit BBQ would appear inappropriate for that situation.

Cabela's works for me. BBQ cooking would be quite apropos for the occasion, given that it originated in the Caribbean and was commonly used by pirates for feasts and celebrations of successful voyages.

What better way to bid adios to civilization than with a beer swilling, meat eating, uninhibited sex orgy. :D

2012! http://bestsmileys.com/scared/5.gif

Let's see, let me check my calendar...December 21 or 23, 2012. I'll be having Winter Solstice Tea. If the world is going to end might as well be civilized about it.

Scones anyone?

Shoot, that's no fun. If I'm cashing in my chips I want to be snuggled up with a pretty woman, eating steak and drinking beer. And if there's time, have sex. :D

Would that be green tea?

Though, I personally would prefer to indulge in temptations, (after seeking a final spiritual enlightenment), I think it would behoove us to make our civilization's final broadcast to the heavens with a more cultured representative. I hope you're not camera shy 3. And no pressure there. :D

A darn shame, pop.

The whole thing is a load of shit. The predictions, the movie, all of it. I can't wait for 2013 to arrive like any other year so that everyone shuts up about it already.

You guys are looking at this from the wrong end. Although beer and sex does balance it out to some extent.

Mayans were temple/ pyramid builders. December 21, 2012 was when their main pyramid was supposed to reach the same size as the world it sat on. No one could ever make one bigger. YAY.

Then along came a couple of scientists and said, "Hey, that will never work. The top of the pyramid will be outside the atmosphere, no one can work there. The gravity center will be off balance, and everything will fly apart. The liquid center of the Earth will cool from loss of it's protective mantle and everyone on the Planet will fry from cosmic radiation.

The Queen looked at the King and said, "See! I told you it wouldn't work."

The King stood up. "Well, fuck! So much for civilization as we know it. Cut out the scientists hearts and everyone back to the jungle. It's a wrap."

If it's anything like Y2K it'll be a flop and t-shirt sales will be flat.

You really know how to disappoint someone, don't you.

Just wait until I drop the real bomb. About the Tooth Fairy.

I won't refute that there's an Easter Bunny though. He's going to be part of the last meal. BBQ Bunny

*psst* Don't tell anyone! I'll get you a seat by the keg. When we're not dead in the morning we'll find another prediction for...let's say ten years later so we can all recover? ;)

Julian Jaynes wrote an interesting book THE ORIGIN OF CONSCIOUSNESS IN THE BREAKDOWN OF THE BICAMERAL MIND. That is, 5000 years ago humans were schizophrenic and religion developed because people hallucinated gods; the gods told people what to do, and the people obeyed. Then about 500BC the gods went away.

Jaynes suspected that humans mutated into sentient beings.

But vestiges of the schizophrenia remain. People with schizotypal personality express the most symptoms of the old fantasy life. But for most of us the vestiges are experiences like intuition, consciense, hunches.

Okay so I just saw all the trailors...I think...and the movie looks awesome (if you're into disaster movies, which I am :D )

I haven't been to the theater to see a movie in a couple years, this might just get me back to one! I agree it does look awesome from the trailers I've seen and I've always loved John Cusack.

I'm just wondering what people think of the whole Apocalypse thing. Believe it? Don't believe it? Hope you can watch someone you really don't like go down before you do?

Personally I'm not sure what I think, but I know I'm not going to worry about it until there's something concrete to worry about. If it is true one thing made me giggle. Because I'm strange :D but anyway.

I'm not going to worry about it either, although, I can now tell my creditors that I'll pay them in full on December 24, 2012 ;)

Guess we wouldn't have to worry about global warming ;)

So now what do we do with Al Gore? :D

Uh, if the world ends, won't t-shirt sales be kinda flat also?;)

Sure, after...but if you time it right you could make a fortune and get laid by a supermodel before (pick your choice of doom).

The last movie I went to was Wolverine. For me a movie really has to be worth it to see it in theaters. Chick flicks on a huge screen just don't do it for me. Works for some people, but I'm picky enough with movies I watch at home, nevermind going out to see one.

I love John Cusack too. He looks perfect for this part.

Now that is a very good idea ;)

We'll the BBQ's still hot

Dec 21 2012, is when mankind will finally learn the truth about life on other planets exists. This will set off panic and disruption among the non-believers, causing wide-spread disruption in the religious sectors and fear mongers will pervade the masses that we are under attack. The wreckage of the craft that comes down will hold clues to many theories, proving some things and dispelling others. This will be the Time of Enlightenment. Religions will crumble, as well as our belief in a God. Civilization as we know it will under-go a traumatic re-thinking and those who accept the change will be at war with those who don't. Many will rebel, as they did with the idea of a round Earth and the sun being the center of existence. This will be a time of non-acceptance, where many will doubt the origin of the craft and the beings who built it. Those who embrace it, find a greater purpose to life and start changing our course of life. Eventually peace and acceptance by all will be acheived and money spent on war, will be spent to further our understanding of ourselves in the scheme of things and seek out the origins of where the craft came from.
Either that, or a big rock comes and obliterates us all. Take your pick.

JBJ I think what you described fits most of the people on the forum...including me. Not Gods anymore (my Gods aren't bossy ;) ) but I know I'm not the only one that's mentioned characters talking to me, telling me how they want the story to develop.

So does that mean the mutants are the people who are boring and not creative? Or are the religious zealots the ones that haven't mutated?

You really gotta learn how to use the space bar. ;)

I'm for the rock.

I'm for the rock.

Not the space bar, the enter key. six lines is about all the eye can take on a computer screen. One of the first things a writer needs to learn when writing for the net.

Actually, I'd like the other scenario better. It would sure liven the place up a lot and clear a bunch of the trash out of peoples heads.
