I'm not one for making New Year's resolutions, other than to resolve NOT to make them, but I always like to go into the new year with a list of things that I want to accomplish.

What are your plans or goals for 2006? Notice that I've avoided using the dreaded R-word.

I'll respond later. :)

2006 cannot get here fast enough for me. 2005 holds many painful memories.

One of my goals is to be kinder to myself, and to finally put myself first sometimes. My health has taken a downward turn in the past few years, and I need to stop the progression if I want to enjoy the rest of my life. If I want to even have a "rest of my life."

Another of my goals is to become more social. I need to get out in the world more, no matter how hard it is. My spirit is lonely, and the only one who can fix that is me.

Here is where I feel like I have to make the obligatory smartass comment because I am getting too darn serious. But I think just this once, I won't.

i don't make resolutions either... but each year i just try to keep one promise to myself... to be more tolerant and accepting... to just be a better person. if you make an inference based on some of my past posts, you can only imagine where i started before i began this series of annual promises. lol.

GOOD HOLY JESUS

err... I mean way to go EJ. :D

I'm going to try to do more than the one day at a time thing ( I can't tell you how much I detest that saying ).
Bobs girl, you're right about getting out there, I hope it works for you.
I need to try and push myself a bit more, step out of my comfort zone.

Move to France...

Been wanting to do that for over 20 years now. I finally found someone I want to be with in France and he can't wait to move there too. We are making preparations and it would not surprise me at all if M and I finally make my long time wish come true in 2006!

A very happy new year to all of you at Lit.

Sheesh, you're a pushy bugger aren't you, it's not even your thread and here you are telling people what to do, and where's your bloody list. I've a good mind to give you a severe platypus poking.

I crack myself up sometimes...ok it's 3.am and it doesn't take much, and at least a platypus poke is far better than an echidna enema. Man I really need to get some sleep.

platypus poke? wallaby wallop? whale whomps?

it's alliteration run amuck, i tell ya! someone stop the madness! (or, if we can find susan powter, stop the insanity)

*revises resolution to include alliteration avoidance*

The trifecta

[elmer] Where is that wascalwy widdle twout wielder? [/elmer]

Severely salmon smacks sneaky silver.

Ok I'm floundering here folks, I can't keep up with this pace, so I am going to pike out and see if I can't feel my way to bed, I have a few things I need to mullet over and I find that is the best place to do it, it's quite good for the sole actually and stops me from getting crabby.

Continued forward progression.

2005 saw me coping with high levels of stress in an oppressive, often hostile, working environment in a much calmer fashion than years past. The situation at work changed 100% in the middle of September after rotations and there was an immediate recovery for me.

I want to work on stepping outside of my comfort zone in social gatherings.

In June/July there is a "diversity" camp for kids that I'll be participating in for the first time. I'm sure I will gain just as much as the kids will from this experience.

Of course I'll participate in the walk against domestic violence again as my birthday celebration.

I'll be looking for other ways to give what I can give of myself-an expansion of last year's beginnings.

take life a day at a time, and ignore those who nit pick in my life and don't really know me :D

I'm going to write. This is something that I'm really nervous about, as I haven't done anything remotely creative for ages.

I'm also going to train for/run in some local 5K races. I've never done anything like that before and I'm not much of a runner, but I want to give it a shot, just so I can say, "Yeah, I've done that."

I won't, however, promise to stay out of cock size threads.

you can take the cock size out of the girl but you can't take the girl out of the cock size.

My plan as far as this next year is concerned is fairly simple:
1: Build the ultimate dream motorcycle for my customer's.
2: Ride 10k miles this year.
3: Be the best Dad to my son I can possibly be.
4: Help one other person realize their dream.
5: To be part of the solution rather than the problem.

I hope all of Everyone's Dreams come true!!!
And also to get LAID at some point by a pretty sweet Woman. ;)

i like this idea of goal-setting as opposed to typical resolutions. i think that i'm going to try to do this army ranger test this spring.

These goals are admirable (no comment needed on the third item). When I decided to take writing seriously a year or so ago, I enrolled in a writer's workshop at my community college. This put a little bit of pressure on me to produce something readable and it gave me the opportunity to see the work of others who were also just starting out. Since then, while I haven't made much time for writing I have joined a local writer's group. We meet once each month for a few beers and some critique time on one or more stories from our members. The critiques that I received have been fair and rather well considered so it has been very helpful.

As noted in another thread, I've done a fair amount of running and commend you on your decision to start wearing out some running shoes. One of the very best resources for me has been Cool Running. There you can find all sorts of advice on gear, training methods, races, and more. The best feature, though, is the online training log that you can personalize. I have all my favorite running routes listed, with their respective distances, so when I want to log a run I simply select the route and the site calculates the average pace per mile and logs my shoe mileage.

Have a great year!

Hmm, goals...

- give my car some TLC: she's 5 years old, low mileage, but a victim of city living. I now have a garage for her, so she'll be safe and comfy. So it's time to replace the cracked windshield, replace the window regulator on the driver's side window, new radio antenna to replace the one that was stolen, new windshield wipers, and touch up paint to cover the little tiny scratches and stuff from braille-parking on the streets.

- move back to Chicago in the spring/early summer: five years on the West Coast has been lovely, but the midwest is home. It's time to go back. I've been hoping they'd outlaw ice and snow while I've been away, but no.

- learn about Chicago real estate: 2007 will be the year I buy a house, so the second half of 2006 will be all about exploring neighborhoods and figuring out where I want to buy

Well my 2006 promises are:

Get my ass to the gym at least 3 times a week,

Stop eating fast food!

Stop being such a lazy ass!

Now if figure if I do the typical lose weight thing I'll jsut be disappointed, but if I do all the above, I will lose weight. It's a different approach, I guess.

I also made the resolution that if my hockey team was gonna lose it wasn't gonna be because of me. So far so good. We played Sunday night and absolutely killed the other team. Now if I can just play like that every night!

Here's to hoping that's a good sign of things to come in 2006! :D
