Okay this thread is inspired by the song "Nineteen somethin' " by Mark Wills. (A country song for all of you asking huh?) So the question is what decade(s) did you grow up in? Was it 1980 or 1990 something like me? Or 1940 something? What were the popular toys? Who was your first celebrity love? What fads did you follow? Did you have a mohawk or wear bell bottoms? What do you remember about growing up that always makes you smile? What events of the time shaped your life?

For me childhood will always be about My Little Ponies, Punky Brewster, and New Kids On the Block. Joey McIntyre was my first love and I used to sleep with his poster above my bed. My teen years weren't all that long ago and will be remembered as the years when we had the Menedez brothers, Lorena Bobbit, Tonya Harding, and who can forget the OJ trial! Sitting in 10th grade English class waiting to find out the verdict! Of course I'd love to forget the flourescent colour fad of the '80s! Wearing a side pony tail and a flourescent pink, green, purple, and yellow dress I must have looked very cute!

/hijack I just wanted to say that I can do that with my tongue too. :D

All those heckling my tongue please start your own thread ;)...All of those who appreciate it, please come on in!

I was born in '61 so bell bottoms were the thing,
even had a polyester leisure suit.I remember the moon landing, Watergate, and news reports from Viet Nam. The original Startrek on TV, the Brady Bunch, Scooby-Doo, and the first season of Saturday Night Live.
I played with Hot Wheels and GI Joes.

Awwww....c'mon...you had to have some jelly shoes...with a slap bracelet to match it...And of course the bangs that got so high that schools from where I was from started making rules that bangs could only be 1.5 inches high...

I can still remember being jealous of the neighbours because they had a remote for their tv...the first microwave we bought and begging my parents for a VCR! Of course you can't forget the very first "colour" printers that only printed in a few colours...Pulling the edges off of printer paper...ahhh...those were the days... ;)

I'll "stick around" to see what that tongue can really do...

Born in 1969. I remember them interupting saturday cartoons for the fall of Saigon and for Watergate updates. I graduated from high school with a "Boz" haircut. I had friends that could breakdance(never got good myself). I saw the original Star Wars 8 times at the theature.

I was born in 1981...

so, i'm still considered a baby to some folks standards. I remember the NKOTB and liked them at one point. But I mostly remeber never knowing if we were gonna have a roof over our heads or whether we were gonna get evicted from our new home. I remeber being picked on because my family had no money and we all(4 kids) wore hand-me-downs and hardly ever matched. I don't recall much being happy about my childhood.

did you have the pac man pattern memorized?
Of course, alone with Ms pac man and all the donkey kong ones. I once played the first four levels of pac man with my eyes closed on a bet.
