LOL not exactly. My sleepy brain is not awake enough for nuance, but Halloween is more rooted in a puritanical reaction to Samhain in hopes of scaring the evil spirits away, whereas Dia de los Muertos is more about keeping loved ones alive through memory.
Fair enough, I was mostly just looking at the costumes
