Day 15: A good duo

Brandi Carlile has done a lot of dueting over the last decade or so as her star has risen. Hell, her latest record is all duets with Elton, which I'm pretty sure is a massive dream come true. And this was never recorded, but tell me it wouldn't garner about 10,000 streams a minute for months.

Day 18: A song that you would have as your ringtone

Before I started keeping my phone in do not disturb 99% of the time, this was an appropriate choice for the sense of impending doom. I have a different ringtone these days but I still wish people would just text.

Carl Orff - O Fortuna

Day 18: A song that you would have as your ringtone

bip bip bip bip bip bip bip

Hot Butter - Popcorn

I had no idea there was a video for that.

I just adore that 1970s Moog sound. Distinctive and perfect. And that snare.

Damn, now I am going to be digging out my Jean-Michel Jarre albums...

I love the way that the video blatantly alternates between the long view and the breast close-ups. This is probably the closest that anybody has come to simulating what's going on in the male gaze control room.

'Pan out!'
'But... boobs!'
'Pan out FFS!'
'Boss there are BOOBS!'

Day 18: A song that you would have as your ringtone

The adrenaline I felt the moment this played was next level. This was my ringtone during uni. Mobile phones were still fairly new. We'd already learned how to program the old Nokia phones to play songs (I was REALLY good at programming ringtones from sheet music 🀣). Getting access to ACTUAL music felt electric. I don't think I ever had another ringtone until I moved to the States.

I should mention my phone has been on silent since 2018.

You Spin Me Round - Dead or Alive

...but I knew I needed a "click", so we put a click on the 24-track,
which then was synced to the Moog modular.
I knew that could be a sound of the future,
but I didn't realize how much the impact would be.
