July is upon us and loyal (elder?) Litsters will know what that means!
It's time for the JULY PM CHALLENGE!
If you've ever wanted a reason to send a PM, wanted to reach out to someone but couldn't think of an opening line, or just wanted to have someone boss you around a little every day - you're in the right place.
As Lit is in a state of evolution and the world is in a state of chaos, small moments of connection - be it silly or sexy - can remind us that people and community are the point of everything.
Starting in 2020 (Year One, Two, Three, Four) and paused slight in 2024 as work and life stuff sucked me into a black hole - we're back with the Fifth Anniversary!
Here's how it works -
Every day in the month of July, I will post a prompt for who and how many Litsters to PM.
Then you think creatively and send those messages! Then come here and tell us about how it's going.
I will award points like tickets at an arcade and at the end of the month, you can trade them in for prizes!
A few reminders and lessons learned over the years.
1. Participation matters. I can't guarantee you a box filled to capacity but if you send PMs and play along here, you're chances of getting PMs are drastically increased.
2. Life happens! Please don't beat yourself up if you can't do every single day or if you need to catch up later.
3. Be respectful. Be polite. This has been a drama free holiday for many years and I'd like to make it happen again.
4. Think outside the box. Well, don't think inside your PM box but do try to reach out to new people. You can always PM your besties. Take this opportunity to meet some new people in the Lit neighborhood.
5. Remember you can send a PM but don't get sassy if you don't get an answer. Sending is the point.
Every single year, I hear from people who have met some amazing friends, epic lovers, and had some incredible laughs. Hell, I had to create this challenge just to meet a few of the coolest people I know! New people and old coots can find something to bring them fun during the hot summer months (or cold ones for the three kiwis).
First challenge will be posted July 1! Let's get the party started!
