✨Highlights and Bombshells💥

Lovely thread idea!

The voice threads are actually the best example of thread post FOMO for me. Sometimes I just don't have the privacy to listen and then there's so much to try and catch up with so I just gave up trying.
Such a shame because I love listening to people.

Somewhere in this forum, there is a thread that asks to describe oneself in 3 words. Or maybe it’s how you’re feeling, which would be easier. Sometimes I struggle even with that. (Does anyone else not know how they are feeling? Because I really have to think about it, at times). And then to have to voice how I’m feeling? Quickly? I freeze.

But anyway. That was a tangent. And here comes another.

I had a conversation with a close friend looong ago, when I was in high school or thereabouts. One of those eye opening conversations that make you realize that you’re different from even your closest friends. We were discussing which qualities about ourselves we thought of first as our defining factors. I can’t remember everything that I said, but I remember the first thing was that I was feminine. My friend’s first defining attribute was that she was African American. We’d grown up together. Gone to elementary school together. Vacationed together. Cried together. Shared so many experiences and thought the same things were funny and scary and awful. But there were still differences and this was a peek into how she saw herself, and how she saw the world. And actually, how I saw it too.

Coming back from that sidetrack, I’m thinking now about what traits I’d choose to define myself now.

When asked to choose three words so that you can show who you are to an online community, it’s pigeonholing. (Where does that term come from?) and even moreso here, because for obvious reasons, one doesn’t want to spill all of the details of themselves publicly. So it is so hard to get to know people for who they genuinely are here. And it’s difficult to share who you are, especially once an opinion has been made about you- or if you think one has been made about you. (Pssst…it probably hasn’t. No one knows what’s going on with whom, except for maybe two people. That’s my guess, anyway). And if people do think something untrue, that says more about them anyway (there’s my free “mom advice” for the day).

So I’m going to be thinking of my words.

My first one is still “feminine”.

My least favorite interview question is along the same lines.
I went for a leadership position at a coffee distribution warehouse and had a decent interview in front of a board of seven people...until this question.
Name one word that describes your work philosophy.
I froze. I had no idea what to say.
When i returned to my job that was shutting down the next day, the boss asked me how it went and I was honest.
When I asked him the question, he had an answer right off his tongue.
I asked him how he did that. He said he did many more interviews in his life than I have.
:D

Hi Azul! Nice to see you :)

Yeah there’s no substitute for experience in that situation, I guess. By the time I’d interviewed a few times, I had a few answers to those standard questions practically memorized and ready to go.

“What would you say is your biggest weakness?”
“What is your teaching philosophy?”

Ugh

The new audio thread that @FemaleNewToThis started has whizzed on for a few pages and I never got to give my recommendation for audios on Lit.... anyone who likes dirty audios (from men) should check out BritishFilth. He hasn't been around in a long time, but left a catalog that is pretty hot, I have to say.
Oh please tell me your audio request! :)

Well, it was more about the recommendation for BritishFilth - great British accent & voice & hot content..... but I do have a thing for the sound of men's dress shoes striding purposefully...
I will put it on the requests!

Are you night owls? By choice? By circumstance? I am not. Never have been. I have always gotten up extremely early in the morning.
I'm going all the way back to the beginning, but I'm definitely an early bird. You probably need to give me 15-30 minutes before I'll talk to anyone, I still need to wake up and all, but I'm up early. I probably used to be a little of both, but now I make sure to get to bed at reasonable time the vast majority of the time. We just know so much about sleep and how important it is and I know how much better I feel and function with proper sleep.

Now excuse me while I go tell at these young whippersnappers to get off my lawn.

Ooh! You need to use a Blonde Highlight! That’s when you quote something from way back in a thread and resurrect it for conversation again.

(I’m trying to get this going) 🤣. Idk if it’ll work but @Wand3rlust was a fan so…

If you are in that waking up period- that first 15-30 min., can you get back to sleep if you try to?

I love hearing peoples voices but I also don't always have the privacy to listen or respond. Plus it is not near as efficient as being able to read. You generally can't speed up the audios which is unfortunate cause it would be nice to listen at 1.25 speed generally. It's quicker without making them sound like a squirrel all hopped up on cocaine.

And for the record....I'm more of an early bird.

Yeah I guess speeding up the audios sort of defeats the purpose :)

Another for Team Early Bird! I feel like this is a pretty even split? Or maybe that’s just because it’s still pretty early in the day…?
