The doctor who wrote the piece that appeared in WSJ this week is with Johns Hopkins. I think he’s probably right. T-cell immunity and vaccinations are causing cases and hospitalizations to fall off a cliff. It’s great news for everyone except public health bureaucrats like Dr. “Do Little” Fauci, lockdown-crazed politicians, teachers unions, and their media allies that want keep the panic porn alive. By early summer, the fear will start fading and we’ll see massive defiance of mask mandates and lockdown orders.

But he is only one among many who are saying - 'No, it isn't possible', or 'If it is the human cost will be unacceptable.'

PS: If Herd immunity is possible, why isn't the US showing that for influenza? Or for measles? Or any of the other diseases for which vaccinations had been used? If Herd immunity was feasible, many of the 19th-century diseases should have gone away by themselves. They didn't.

What's your definition of an 'Expert'? Someone with a title? Marty Makary is a surgeon; not a virologist. He may have read up on the topic, and he may be more informed than the average person, but I would rather get the news from real virus experts.

What is your response to the lack of herd immunity? Kill hundreds of thousands of more Americans?

It is not political to question a single doctor who has no qualifications in that area.

Covid is going to be around for years. We have to learn to live with it somehow but lockdowns may not be necessary if a sufficient number are vaccinated. Refusing a jab should be anti-American and if enough people say no - because freedom - more Americans will die.

No, I'm not. Yes, because we are treating it we should see fewer deaths but if we (or the US) try for herd immunity you will have to infect almost the whole population deliberately, and the deaths will rise and rise without achieving the immunity.

That didn't work for measles. It doesn't work for influenza.

PS: There are two examples of failed herd immunity. One was with the Conquistadors. They had limited immunity against syphilis - but still got it. They didn't die from it but millions of native peoples did. In North America, smallpox decimated native tribes while Europeans had resistance to it.

If you are aiming for herd immunity, it has to be worldwide, not just in the US unless you close your borders completely.

It's not. We're destroying our economy and lives over something we feared
out of lack of information and now armed with knowledge, the fears are just irrational

Covid is not a death sentence unless you are already on death row.
Those on death row need to protect themselves, the rest of us are We, the Living.

I've had it. It was bad, but then I've had the flu many times and it was bad too.
If I had a compromised immune system or other underlying health issues then
I would be forced to take protective measures but I'll be damned if I'm going
to jump through fucking hoops and ruin my life just to protect your compromised health.

That's on YOU! Not the rest of society, just like any other infectious disease.

Covid can do that. It is obviously more deadly for the older and those with underlying conditions but anyone could die from it.

Protection is not for yourself but for others. If you can't do a few simple things - you are just selfish and a potential killer.

Lockdowns are a different thing. Whether they are effective and whether people will comply? But wearing a mask, washing your hands, and keeping your distance are things anyone can do and they help to slow the spread of Covid.

Yes a microscopic number of young healthy people will die of infectious disease.

Thus is the burden of biological existence on this planet.
