I'm from east central Iowa. About 40 minutes from Cedar Rapids. And you're right, there aren't many Iowa people out there.

Where you from Emerald-Eyed? I'm born and raised in Iowa and I've found that people either love it or hate it. I wouldn't live anywhere else if I had a choice, but that's my opinion.

Its great to see other Iowans here. I live in Central Iowa myself. I posted this thread to see if there were any other Iowans that use this site. It is great to know there are others in puritanical Iowa with open enough minds to enjoy a site like this. Any of you fellow Iowans feel free to PM when your online. I think we should keep this thread going and hopefully develop a mini Iowa community and see how it develops. Thanks again.

There are a lot of old people here, I agree with that. And during planting season it can get smelly in parts. Maybe it's because I'm from here that I think the people are nicer than anywhere else. I think it's like that anywhere you go-new people are always looked at differently. I hope over time it gets better for you.

Iowans are beautiful

I agree Iowans are very nice and down to earth people. It is not the hub of America but there are solid hard working and fun loving people here.

I have lived in Iowa 35 years and have come to love the Iowa landscape. I paint every day and every day I see another beautiful part of the state. Just look at the rolling hills sometime. They are fantastic. The undulating fields of green in the summer; the red and yellows of fall take your breath away. It humbles you.

I think we take it for granted sometimes because we live here but Iowa is a great state and the people are as well. So rock on Iowans.

Emerald, you need to learn to accept that Iowa will never have the beauty of the Rockies, but learn to accept that there is beauty in the Loess hills of western Iowa or in the fall in McGregor in northeastern Iowa. A different beauty but a beauty nevertheless.

That being said, I cannot deny I would rather live in Colorado but I am here right now and have to take beauty where I find it.
