Northern California (And Possibly NW-USA) Summer Lit Together Thread

The Summer Lit Together In SanFrancisco (6/19/04)Thread

Tentative date is Saturday, June 19, 2004 in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.

Which picnic area is TBA, but my goal is to reserve one with tables, a BBQ and restrooms in, or close enough to the area to be convenient.

Although I aimed this towards Californians and those in other states close to N.Cal or the NW-USA and Canada, anyone who wants to try to make it is invited.

As it will be a picnic lunch in a park, I'd like for everyone who is able to bring a dish to pass to do so, with the exception of people who have to travel far, obviously. I'm sure nobody wants to eat 12 hour old fried chicken

Kegs and hard liquor are not allowed in the park, and there are some areas that allow no alcohol at all, but I will try to get one that does. (Which is limited to wine and beer)

We can discuss who is bringing what here in the thread, as well as picnic-y activities to do in the park, alternatives in case of bad weather, and whatever ideas anyone more familiar with the area has

I will be in Santa Cruz, the last two weeks of June....how far away is that from SF.....I think it is south of there, its been awhile since I have been down that way.

I think it's about an hour - hour 1/2 south of SF.

I'm a definite "no way" now. Since I don't fly it'd take 2 days on the Greyhound just to get there and another 2 days to get back. So that coupled with the date change I will just politely shake my head and so nahhhh.

The date isn't the big thing... If it were a shorter trip I wouldnt mind any date ya came up with.

I'll explain myself... the original date was what got me to thinking about the possibility of attending. I wouldnt have even thought of it before without that. But once I thought of it I was then open to any date as long as it wouldn't take forever to get there.

Since it would be a 2 day trip on the bus that is what disqualified it. I used to spend a day on the bus to go visit my ex but one time it took 2 days to get there and it drove me insane. So a 2 day trip one way is just too much for me.

Even though its almost a definite no I will continue to think about it... I have almost 3 months to think it through so maybe there is a small chance I will change my mind. Though if I don't show up it won't be that big of a loss 'cause I am pretty shy and would probably hide under a tree or something most of the time anyway, lol.

Well if you do, my boyfriend is pretty shy too, so I'm sure there'll be company under the tree

Hmmmm had another thought... I wonder if the bathroom's in San Fran parks are as bad as some people on TV make them out to be. Don't really feel up to being hit on by some guy in the bathroom if I did go, lol.
