Why is it okay to say there are no good black men around?

But it's not okay to point out to black women that the reason they're saying this, is perhaps due to their own shortcomings?

Is it getting monotonous listening to a brother point this out? Well, it's even more monotonous listening to all the black male bashing that goes on out there, from their own race.

oh boy why are all of Lt's threads like this?

A few years ago, I would have agreed with that staement, but now, having changed job and living environments, my position has changed as well.
It's all about the environment. Back then, a lot of the guys who wanted a 'relationship' weren't worth shit, because they didn't think that they mattered. They wanted people to kiss their ass for being nothin' but thuggy. I don't know what happened to any of them, (but the class reunion is coming up soon enough). Now though, I am fortunate enough to interact with black men with purpose, men with actual life plans! There are a few around, but they are few.

Are you really sure there weren't any good men around then?

A lot of good black men get ignored in their youth... until they get a good job, that is.

You are the only one that I hear say this.

Thanks for drilling it into my psyche.

I was gonna get into this but decided against it. I don't see any way to discuss it without somebody yelling 'racist.'

Take your chance, "soldier". Allegedly, you've risked far worse in life, right? :D :nana:

Before, in the environment that I was in, I could practically guarantee that those guys were worthless and still are. If I checked them now, I'm sure that they're the same losers they always were.

Maybe you should be asking these questions on a forum with more black people.

Ok, I'll check and let you know. (You're making it sound like a ton of guys).

Really? You mean you can’t get serious responses from a porn board that’s predominantly white?

One of the same reasons I don't check in here to get the scoop on the latest hip hop gossip.

Demographics count for a lot sometimes.

But the black people on this forum speak regular English. And read it, for the most part.

Aw hell, I'm gonna get it for that....

I'd love to see a forum with more black people that doesn't get mired in ghetto speak, yo.

To be fair, most internet forums are full of subliterates, regardless of the people who post there.

Its not that there are no good black men, just as a whole the number seems small.

Ok, some people think that my view's are slightly racist, and if you find my views offensive, I apologize, they are not ment to come off as racist. Now I disagree that there are no good black men left. Had this question came to me years ago I might have felt different. I know how right wing redneck America view's black men(I live in Montana, where the recisim is overlooked due to lack of diversity) and here they are all viewd as "Niggers". Well I may live here, but I was born in west Sacramento, wich if you know the area has the tendancy to be worse than any other area for gang activity, due largely to the diversity. There I learned that the word "Nigger" dosent tell you a person's skin color, but a person's attitude on life. Really I beleive that any person, white, black, latino, asian, whatever, can be that, its how you act, not how you look.
But Ive diversed from the point. I used to say that there were no good black men left, mostly because all the ones i ever met basicly treated women like shit. That is until I met my Cousin Arther, my family is from texas, they owned slaves in the 1800's. So when my cousin Dinese married a black man most of the older family was shocked. Being that my father raised me, we met him before we judged him. And after getting to know him, Id let the guy marry my mom, lol. There are many good black men out there, its just that what the public eye seem's to see the most is the not so good.

Again, if I have offended anyone, my deepest sorry.

I do not deal in black male bashing, hell, any male of any race can be a nigger to me.

I am a 51 yr old black woman, every man I have ever dated, lived with and married was black.

But my gripe is this, every man I have been with(and I can count them on one hand), I stood behind, helped them get on there feet, took care of them when they were ill, had babies, hell even worked while they went to school to better themselves, and guess what as soon as they got a leg up I was out. Now maybe it's the type of men I attract, I don't know, but I have yet to meet one that stands by his commitment to me, once they have reached their goal.

My only short comings as you put it, is that I cared for, had faith and trust in someone who did not deserve it.

I am now celibate by choice, I date, I have many male friends, but
I do understand how some of the sisters feel, when they have been put through the ringer by many men, not deserving of their love.
