get some conversation going on the HT.

well, the boys would wear long wigs (at least i thought they were wigs  )
Makes sense to me. What really distinguishes a rock star (aside from the record label paycheck, etc.) is the groupies and few 14-year old boys could round up enough of those to make the illusion perfect.

I stopped wearing my Richard Nixon mask a few years ago when I answer the door because it no longer frightens anyone. Still haven't come up with a good replacement yet.

You might try Alan Greenspan or Bette Midler...both should be suitable substitutes.

how did the quiet time go yesterday?
Heavenly. :)

It got really busy in a hurry, though. My husband and the babies got home just as my ex showed up with the older kids and the book groupies were leaving.

All of a sudden the once-immaculate house looked like it had been hit by a tornado.

I've been leaning toward Paul Wolfowitz or Dick Cheney but I don't think I have the chest to do Bette.

I'll come join you and we'll go out as a duo. As long as I don't have to do Cheney. :D

Most of the best conversations start with "Ya, I remember the time I got caught pilfering my aunt's unmentionables. How 'bout you?" or "My investment portfolio really took a hit when pencil lead futures nosedived. Who woulda guessed that was coming?"

I'm not even sure if Mrs. Cheney wants to do him these days.

Heh, you think she's waiting for the day when she really hits him with a whopper of a BJ and it finally takes him out? Maybe that's too difficult for the life insurance company to swallow (groan).

hahaha, I  you, EJ. This place really isn't the same without you.

On a side note, this place won't be the same without me for the next week or so, I'm sure, while I'm gone. You can all begin crying now. Either that, or one of you can attend my classes that I'm missing and give me expert notes on it. The latter being slightly more productive.

Now I was just reading the results in the vanity searches poll and realised that bi does a search daily to catch up one her conversations. Don't you think it would be really nice for her when she gets back to be able to do a search and find her name all over the place. I would assume she does a search on her full user name as "bi" would turn up too many results.
I think, just some nice random postings of her name should give her some wonderful if not slightly confusing results on her return.
Naturally I am not using her full name in this post as I wouldn't want her to find it first up. :D

If anyone is interested, tonight (Tuesday) on Court TV will be a show called NOPD - After Katrina. Apparently Court TV was given special access in the days following Katrina and the things the police faced. It's at 10pm eastern standard time.

Lady, you have awakened the artist in me. :D

In my professional judgment, your pun was the cream of the crop because it had a great finish.

Yankster, might I suggest a Karl Rove mask? He certainly frightens me senseless every time I open up a newspaper

But I also think you'd do an outstanding Bette.....your qualms can be soothed by two simple words: water bra! :D

our house gets like that. its not dirty, but it always seems there is too much "stuff" kicking around.
Yup. It doesn't help that my hubby and I both have a high clutter tolerance.

When I ask the kids to get their stuff out of the living room, you'd think I'd just asked them if I could skin them alive. They always change their tune when I get out a garbage bag! So far, the sight of the garbage bag is deterrent enough, and the toys get picked up.

interesting... i'm going to try hanging a garbage bag in my office to see if it helps keep the place neater. :p

That made me laugh lol. You're a trip. :D

We also have a high tolerance for clutter.

I remember those days "If you don't pick it up, then I will" and the kids go scurrying to pick up their shit. Now that I think of it, we still have those days, just different kinds of stuff.

My younger son pushes it beyond clutter though. He's a slob. There's a difference between clutter and a mess. I let him use my car because, well I don't use it much and we don't have to go across town to pick him up every night after school sports. Then, when I do use it, I have to tell him to clean out the banana peels, gatorade bottles, and pears that have teeth marks in them. Gross. When I get the explorer back on the road, he's gonna be using that instead.

see... this is what college REALLY teaches you. you learn how to live with no money and you find that the shit lying around the house is not only excusable, but it creates atmosphere.

only, when that atmosphere becomes a green mist it really is time to clean.

you think the ladybugs are going to clean up after you?

shhhh.

so far they're not here today. i shut the window early so maybe that'll keep them out... assuming that's how they were getting in.

let me assure you... if this continues, i'm getting one o' those japanese beetle traps and hanging it from the light fixture in here.

Good luck with that. I vacuumed last night before bed (because I had to use the carpet shampooer to get the ground-in spaghetti sauce out of the living room rug, but that's another story). When I got up this morning, there were dead ladybugs on the floor. They're getting in somewhere. I just don't know where.
