Gladiator II

I hope to make this spoiler free, but I am afraid one issue I have with the film is a small spoiler, but I dont think its a big reveal since its strongly alluded to in the trailers. Ill mention AT THE END.

So without giving away too much plot or any "secrets", the movie is certainly entertaining. It is definitely bloody/violent/grimy if you like seeing people get speared or limbs hacked off.
The used some of the same music as before, which includes the great song "Now We are Free" (
or
)

Denzel Washington was his usual terrific self...if anyone gets nominated for this, itll be him I would think. Jospeh Quinn plays the emperor (you may know him as Eddie from Stranger Things), and Pedro Pascal is a general. There are also a few familiar faces in the background, either from the original film, or actors you may recognize from other films...a guy from "300", a host from "The Great British Bake Off" and more.

Anyway, is the film fun and entertaining? Yes. Was there good action? Yes. Was it mostly predictable? You bet...far too easy to sort out who was good and evil and who would die etc. But its an action movie first and foremost so...so whatever? Did the film need to be made, was is epic etc? No. I found it to be less "powerful" or exciting and engrossing or whatever as the first. It was not original, the story was VERY similar to the first one...like...WAY TOO MUCH. And you probably could have cut 15-20 min out of it as well...it was a notch long it seemed.
I am glad to have watched it for sure. It isnt a thumbs down. It just isnt a bigtime thumbs up.

---SPOILERS BELOW---

So in the first film, we learn Maximus' wife and child are murdered. You see the kid hanging in his house, he declares it in the arena, etc.
In Gladiator II, that still happened, but he apparently also has a kid with Lucilla (Connie Nielsen, who was Commodus' sister in the film) when they were lovers for a bit (apparently before he got married and lived in Spain?). That kid is Lucius, who was the little kid in the first film that Maximus talks to a couple times, who is now grown up and the star in this film.
Ok...I can buy all of that, even though it is mightily convenient, but how come Lucilla never said anything in the first film..."hey this is your son!" right? Dunno. Just bothered me!
I've never been much of a movie person, as my ADD kicks in on anything more than a sitcom. However, I do appriciate a well written critique of a movie.....that, and I'm glad Siskel & Ebert never had Full Frontal Fridays.

I am taking requests. Doesnt mean I am fulfilling all of them, or any of them.
If everyone here posts they want to see me spread eagled and rubbing myself into oblivion...well...prob wont happen but I may TEASE it...ie...do it with yoga pants and camel toe...or whatever...ya know?

But if tons of ppl said...hey, post mirror selfies topless...those are easily doable and "in my wheelhouse" as something I can fulfill.
I would love to see a full body nude, or any part of you nude for that matter

You’re clearly a music lover. Other than the bands and artists you noted before, what’re you currently into? I, very late to the game, have really been into Charli XCX. She totally reminds me of a mash up of later 90’s and early 00’s Toronto house club sound and Republica.

I have several mixes for different moods.
But sure, some bands maybe you havent heard of:

St. Paul and the Broken Bones. Very soulful singer, jazz/cocktail party type vibes. Amazing.

Me Like Bees. Very cool alt-rock.

Cyne. Upbeat rap. Check out "Pretty Apollo"...totally danceable!

The Coup. "My favorite mutiny" is the theme song to Winning Time (MAX show) and is a helluva good lil jam.

Been trying to learn to shuffle dance, so lots of like...edm/hip-hop/jazzy danceable tunes
Starjunk95 "Stardust Circuit"
DJ Kube "Feel the vibe"
Kevin McKAy "Walking on a dream" (the original version by Empire of the Sun is a fucking BANGER!)
Deadmau5, Galantis, Avicii, Shigeto, Porter Robinson, David Guetta, Eric Prydz, Kaskade, Tritonal, Krewella...

Here are some of my most favorite songs...prob could list a 100 more...didnt put Queen, Chili Peps, Radiohead, Passion Pit and so many others there but...enjoy

Love it!! Thanks for the recommendations - I’ll definitely give them ALL a listen! One of my favourite things to do is share music. As has been said “Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for music.”
