The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

It was delicious. Have more for the next couple of days.

Does anyone get out of sorts at the holidays... I don't really enjoy them. I force myself to do "fun" stuff but it is exhausting..... I guess since we didn't really celebrate as kids.... we were poor.... I just don't get all the pomp and circumstance
🫂 We didn't have the biggest celebrations or the newest toys, but we always celebrated.

These days it's a mixed bag. Only a couple siblings live close enough for day trips. They're busy with their spouses and kids, so they don't always think to include the Spinster Aunt. And other than the siblings' in-laws, I am now that "older generation" in the family. Everyone else is gone now. Bittersweet.

I started Saturday off with a double pork roll and egg sandwich on a plain bagel, 2 cups of coffee, and a glass of orange juice.... I'm a junk food junkie!
You also are a runner..... Definitely gives you caloric space. Me I lift at a gym and some days are more intense than others but not usually 12 miles type intense. Go get em girl

This year yes.

I actually love thanksgiving. It’s my favorite holiday, but now that my mom is so old and frail, i don’t know how it’s gonna work.

Christmas is normally my jam. We didn’t have much of Christmas either when I was a kids

But I probably overcompensate for it by getting extra into it. We have crazy traditions: the Christmas Mastadon, the Godzilla tree topper, punk rock ornaments, the Christmas morning Torino ride w Santa hats, dancing around the juke box, pumpkin smooshing, our special Christmas cookie family recipe and luminaries in the driveway.

But I ain’t feeling it this year. We’ve had a significant change in family dynamics the last two years which has really changed a lot. 🫤

So what's the general consensus here on protein. Im a low carb guy. Love them avacotos....
I'm a fairly clean eater due to some a shit-ton of food intolerances. Unfortunately, almost all animal proteins and some tasty produce is also on that list. I make do... and am helped by a few protein supplements that I do tolerate well.

🫂 I'm sorry - that's always been difficult.
While I have lots of great memories, that still leaves spots open at the table.

I hope you have a good visit with your mom! Any chance there's a favorite Thanksgiving food of hers that you could make/take??

Keeping it clean is so hard with our food industry. Have to prep and prepare allot of things from scratch. If it has a bar code on it it's probably crap. :ROFLMAO:

That sounds like fun... I always feel like the 3rd wheel or second thought. So I self exile... I bring it up and give people permission to make other plans.....

I will be glad when the holidays are over. Next year I qm going to go somewhere and do my own thing. Maybe a trip?

I try my best to eat healthy carbs and lots of protein... I am trying to get healthy and have lots of weight to lose.... so I stick with real food qnd stay away from processed food.... that being said .... i love Xmas cookies
I run into problems when there are allot of people around me I start eating what they are eating. It's a struggle for sure

Yeah, kinda. It seems like we blow all this stuff out of proportion. Thanksgiving is about black Friday sales, etc... Christmas is overdone too.
