There aren't many feelings better than when the words start to flow almost of their own accord.

1. I'm about a third of the way through a Pink Orchid offering, a thirty-five year old editor yearning to finish off the summer (alongside her birthday) with a spirited bacchanal.
2. Not one but three 750-word atrocities (and I swore I would never do any more of these - except that @StillStunned forced me into them with his bizarre writing prompts.) But shoehorning an abbreviated tale into exactly 750 words. while making it sexual and interesting, ends up being a bracing challenge that I do not seem to be able to resist.
That was me yesterday. Maybe it's catching! Have fun writing! As if to contradict myself of nine hours ago. I woke up with a complete scene in my head and have just written a thousand words! How does this happen?![]()
"In late-2024 the world went into lockdown as "the Writing Bug" swept the globe. Unlike the previous pandemic, this time it was an organic process, as people found themselves unable to leave their keyboard."That was me yesterday. Maybe it's catching! Have fun writing!
Now 1,900 words into the sequel? Could it be two in two days?I've been blocked for a little while. Or, more accurately, struggling to finish pieces - I've got four with starts made, one with 12,000 words written, but despite having the plot planned, I've been finding it hard to keep going on any of them. I was worried I might be done ahead of time.
So I was pretty pleased when I woke up early this morning and, lying in bed before the alarm went off, formed a single scene story in my head. I had 1200 words written before I had to leave for work at 8am; wrote the rest this evening. I think it's the first time I've ever managed a complete draft in one day. I mean, it's only 3,200 words, so nothing that impressive, but I'm still really chuffed.
(It's - surprise, surprise - a lesbian romance. But it's told from the point of view of a friend who witnesses the moment friendship becomes something else, so it's a little different for me.)
Mr Provocateur, is that me? Are those photos of me in my underwear doing the rounds again? You can check with Mr. Provocateur himself for the origin of his 'Writing Exercises' (I'm too lazy to research) but here's one, No. 6. Lots of fun, engaging, and gets the writing juices flowing.
They are. I have the one of you in the purple panties with the butterfly’s as my wallpaper.Mr Provocateur, is that me? Are those photos of me in my underwear doing the rounds again?
Aww, thanks! That's my favourite too! They are. I have the one of you in the purple panties with the butterfly’s as my wallpaper.
And I have read and written 0 of what I'm meant to be doing. Instead I made a shit ton of homemade caramel and some caramel stuffed triple chocolate chip cookies, which I then mailed to a friend from Lit for Thanksgiving for his kids, lol.As if to contradict myself of nine hours ago. I was going to finish my story tonight, but instead I watched Deadpool & Wolverine. Not sure I made the right choice. And I have read and written 0 of what I'm meant to be doing. Sounds like a fun choice at least. I've had the scent of caramel stuck in my nose for the past 15 hours. It's not going away, lol. It's also making it difficult to sleep.I was going to finish my story tonight, but instead I watched Deadpool & Wolverine. Not sure I made the right choice.
My daughter sat me down to watch the first half of the second season of Arcane. Serious father daughter bonding moment. Now I have six hours before I have to pick up my wife from her night shift.Sounds like a fun choice at least. I've had the scent of caramel stuck in my nose for the past 15 hours.
