I post MOST of my stories to Loving Wives.Hi, I'm a new member here and wannabe author. I currently have several stories nearing completion and will be hopefully publishing something very soon.
My question is this - what's so scary about the loving wives category ? I keep coming across references to it in the forums that make it sound as if anyone publishing there must need there head examined. I don't get it. I have trawled through as many stories (and comments) as much as any one person reasonably can and have found nothing untoward. I have mostly found the stories bland, for my tastes, and the comments likewise. So what's the deal. Why the bad reputation?
I am currently finishing a very short humorous piece titled 'The God-Fearing Wife' or possibly 'Eat My (Dog) Shit' that I feel is perfect for the category.
Am I likely to get death threats if I offend someone. I'm serious. I don't want none of those.
Thanks
R.Paddy
And neither one of them seems to appreciate the stated purpose/intent of LW, which isn't about burning bitches or bastards, nor is it about jilting, transgression and damage. The first tribe demands cheaters be punished for their transgressions, and the more vicious, callous, and extreme the punishment, the happier they like it.
The second tribe prefers to see jilted partners reconcile, regardless of how extreme the transgression and how unlikely the odds would be of successfully repairing the damage in real life.
These couples don't have to reconcile because this is talking about ethical nonmonogamy, permissiveness, and participation.Married extra-marital fun: swinging, sharing & more.
I haven't experienced any noticeable effect on my stories in other categories as "spill-over" from those in Loving wives. I currently have 28 stories posted in 7 different categories. The average score for stories in categories other than Loving Wives is 4.58, while the average score within Loving Wives is 4.15.I just submitted my first story for the LW category. I'm not sure which crowd will like it or hate it. I didn't think to create an alternate though. Oh well. If they rage bomb the rest of my works, I guess that will be extra views at least.
It's odd that those morally outraged by swinging and generally non-monogamous behaviour are totally fine with stories about people fucking their kids. Go figure.
I've yet to see demands for punishment of male cheaters, but maybe they are in that multitude of comments somewhere.Yeah, the deal with "Loving Wives" is that two tribes of roughly equal ferocity lay claim to the same territory.

Pleasing one means failing to please the other, and you will be pilloried by whichever one your story does not entertain, and either way you're likely to get people happy to tell you what you can do with yourself for failing to entertain them.
I'd suggest making an alt account specifically for posting to that category, as irrational readers can be all too happy to rampage through the rest of your authorial output and review/comment bomb everything.
But, yeah, like @Lifestyle66 said, if you're looking for a whole bunch of eyes on your story, the only other place offering anything close to that is Incest/Taboo. Loving Wives will get you seen, but you have to learn to appreciate the audience for what it is.![]()
I've had voters in Loving Wives who had some of my work there so much that they 1-bomb some of my stories in other categories. Nice to know I have that kind of impact.
At the same time, the story series I wrote from the "bull's" perspective all scored in the 4.5 to 4.6 range. Seems to be okay when the male MC is creating the "cheating" the LW crowd hates so much.
I posted several stories in there, but my thick skin lasted only so long and I won't put anything there again.
I'd also say - depending on the details of your story, and just based on you saying the stories you have read there are "bland" - you also might consider publishing in the BDSM category. I've written a handful of cuckold/ethical non-monogamy stories, and I always put them in BDSM rather than LW. Those stories did all right, and people were pretty cool about it. Granted, there was a lot of pain and humiliation in those stories as well, so I think it's important to keep that in mind, but I do think, if you're trying to "market" a story like that, you have some options.Hi, I'm a new member here and wannabe author. I recommend keeping comments on. Turning them off is "throwing the baby out with the bath water." You'll miss the good ones too....
If the comments worry you, turn them off, other than the very small percentage of haters, it's useful to see them if you want to develop your writing skills. And if you do like me ,I sit having a good 'ole chuckle to myself when someone is desperate to tell they've given me one star because I used a black cat, and not a ginger cat in a story![]()
For the past few days, I've seen in my author's home page comments left on my stories, and previously, within ten minutes I could view the comment by clicking on that home page link. But it would only go to the comments page with all previous comments, missing the new one. But if I go to My Stories page and click on the "Comments thought bubble" link to the right of the story title, the latest comment shows up.Speaking of the LW category, I comment a lot on stories, especially in that category, and generally appreciate and score high on those stories which follow the description of the category (extra-marital fun).
So yesterday I gave a 5 to a first time author, and commented "good first story, keep writing". The comment shows in my control Panel, but not on the story itself as a comment. So this morning early, I made the same comment, and again it doesn't show. Every other comment I have made on stories the last couple of days immediately show in both places. Is it possible that a first time author (maybe an alt of another writer or commenter has blocked me from commenting?

I don't think you can block specific users on the story side.Speaking of the LW category, I comment a lot on stories, especially in that category, and generally appreciate and score high on those stories which follow the description of the category (extra-marital fun).

Disagree with you, far from a waste of time you've taken away a notion of what feels right for you based on the thoughts and experiences of other authors.I’m sorry to have been such a monumental time waster. My time hasn’t been wasted at all reading all your considerate, informative replies. I feel better able to navigate now (you’ve also made me feel oddly welcome which was probably foolish of you).
I did a little experiment today and posted a story in LW. Within minutes, it was one-bombed, and the result is that I'm going to take it down. I will most likely publish on a different site in the future.
People trolling is one thing, but Lit actively enables that with their rating system. Many other social media sites have switched to a reaction-based system that is less prone to abuse. You could easily rank stories by (score=likes/authenticated views) or similar, maybe time-weighted. That would stop giving trolls such an outsized lever.
