What nonpartisan reason is there for not releasing the House Ethics Committee report on Gaetz?

Unless Gaetz removes himself from consideration for AG, the contents of the investigation report need to be shared with the Senate. The information will become public one way or another if his nomination is not withdrawn before confirmation hearings start.

I don’t think it’s worth burning political capital on trying to get Gaetz confirmed. My guess is the nomination gets pulled after the transition team finishes their Senate lobbying efforts and looks at the math.

Senate confirmation for Attorney General relies on more than just legal conclusion regarding character. They deserve to see the House report.

I believe I heard it on news max, I don’t believe the statement is in hard print yet. Megyn Kelly podcast broke down the intricacies of the allegations. Interesting podcast and in my opinion very damaging. Borderline pedo. I don’t believe he’ll make it through confirmation IMHO

He’s always struck me as a slimy character who is more interested in self promotion than delivering results for his constituents and country. The allegations seem plausible to me.

Imagine how the confirmation hearings would go. The woman who testified under oath that she saw him at a party when she was 17, fucking and doing lines, repeating that on national TV. Or anonymously behind closed doors before the Senate Judiciary Committee. I think about the drip drip of leaks from DOJ and House members. I think about the new stories and allegations that will pop up.

We already know that Collins and Murkowski are hard No. McConnell hasn’t explicitly said he’s a No, but 99% sure he is. WSJ reports a number of other GOP members who are quietly telegraphing concerns.

Give him his fair and transparent hearing. But don’t bet on it ending well for Gaetz. I’m happy he’s resigned and I’ll be happy if someone other than him gets the AG job.
