Nobody seems to care that he is married. In all the debate over his sexual behavior, the word "adultery" never comes up.

Back in the '90s, the Republicans seemed to assume that all they needed to do was expose Clinton as an adulterer, and that would be that -- he would be dead and buried politically. Now, that might have worked against JFK; but the Pubs apparently did not appreciate how much American culture had changed since the '60s.

If these scandals about Gaetz had come out in the '90s, the Pubs would have turned against him -- just for adultery, even if no underage girls were involved. But even the GOP has changed culturally.

He was married in 2021. Accusations appear to be prior to that.

Well, trump won so apparently no one cares about character or scandals

You know what's sad? That the moron that started this thread and those of like mind haven't a clue as to what started the scandal the FBI investigated.

Times change. When the nation learned that Clinton got a psychologically confused 22 year old student intern to give him blowjobs and serve as his personal cigar humidor, Americans became more forgiving of adultery and exploitation of vulnerable women by men in powerful positions.

Attitudes about weed have changed as well. In 1987, Reagan nominated Douglas Ginsburg to a seat on Supreme Court. Ginsburg ended up withdrawing himself from consideration after it came to light that he had experimented with marijuana when he was in college.

He's also presumed innocent until proven guilty.
I'll assume that the Senate will take into account the ethics investigation results as well as allegations of improper behavior when giving their consent.

In fact, I think that might be why 47 is threatening to bypass their consent.

But sure...in a court of law he is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The Senate is not a court of law - where things like showing videos of sexual escapades to colleagues on the house floor may be frowned upon.

Think it was this.

Federal investigations into child sex trafficking and statutory rape

In January 2020, the U.S. Secret Service reportedly received a tip that, in April 2018, Gaetz had accompanied Seminole County tax collector Joel Greenberg to a government office where Greenberg was producing fake IDs.[265] Greenberg was indicted in August 2020 on an array of charges, including sex trafficking a 17-year-old girl in 2017 and creating fake IDs to facilitate sex trafficking.[266][267] The investigation of Greenberg led federal officials to look into some of Gaetz's related activities.[265] In late 2020, the Justice Department opened its investigation of Gaetz for allegedly sex trafficking the same 17-year-old girl in 2017 and whether he had violated federal sex trafficking laws by paying her to travel with him across state lines.[266][268][269] As part of his plea bargain, Greenberg cooperated with the investigation of Gaetz and others.[270][271]

In the partisan eyes of the Merrick Garland and his weaponized DOJ there was nothing to pursue. They looked at the evidence and decided against any prosecution.

You keep confusing the consent of the Senate and a court of law.

And again - why is 47 wanting to force a recess appointment?

I’m not a Gaetz fan but I believe these allegations precede his marriage.

Public opinion is getting a little bit tired of being manipulated by the liberal news media, the DOJ, and social media. Case in point, the Election. :)
People are much happier to be manipulated by the right wing media. Case in point, the election.

I dunno why so many political opponents are going after Gaetz. He is completely capable of 'fucking up' anything and everything he deals with. The GOP Senators are terrified to confirm him, and terrified not to. Let them do whatever they want. Gaetz is 'downside' personified He will screw up for certain , so let his supporters and boss wear it.

The best result for Trump is for Gaetz to be rejected by the Senate, even better than him being accepted.

Why would it? Marriage is little more than a state sponsored social welfare scam anyhow.

There is ZERO respect for it in society and honestly the fact that a guy his age IS married? Is one of the biggest red flags he has..... I'll give the older generations a pass but millennials should know better and zoomers deff have figured it out. 2/3 aren't even looking for anything and almost none of the 1/3 that are are looking for marriage.

Back in the '90s,

When Trump was a democrat well to the left of transphobic, homophobic, ultra-racist Bill Clinton....LOL

30 years changes a lot!!

They do not even care that it is only in the preliminary draft form sans conclusion...

The story told quickly and often is the thing they care about.

They fail to ask themselves, To where and why to the bright stars of our future flee and fall?
