The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

It's almost impossible to do given the Honeymoon Allergy Phenomenon.

Described in this article:
"Allergy sufferers may think that moving to another climate can help alleviate their allergy symptoms. However, pollen can be found nearly everywhere in the country.

Moving may decrease your symptoms initially, however there is a honeymoon period of two to five years. After that time, those that have predisposition to allergies can then develop allergies in their new environment."
EXACTLY my fear!

EXACTLY my fear!
Right? It's a shame it takes so long to manifest.
First time I visited San Diego, all my allergies disappeared. I thought, "This is amazing! I should move here!". By my 4th or 5th trip, my "home base allergies" still subsided but I started reacting to things local to SD. Eucalyptus comes immediately to mind - and there's a lot of that growing in SD. By then I knew I would be exchanging one set of reactions for another with no real way of knowing better/worse until well after the fact.
I never did move there - and the family who lived there for 15 years has since relocated as well now. 🤷‍♀️

I have had some amazing vacations where I've been allergy-free the whole time. I ❤️ those!!

Good morning everyone, wherever you may be

It has become clear to me, during my still brief tenure in this group, that coffee is very important to many ‘groupies.’ Don’t ask me how I’ve managed to work this out, let’s just say that I’ve drilled down through the posted words to decipher the hidden subtext beneath!

Allow me, therefore, to give you a little insight into buying coffee in France.

The French for ‘a coffee’ is ‘un café’ but, if you ask for this you will get a small black coffee, almost espresso size, served in a glorified egg cup. Bear in mind that there is no takeaway coffee culture in France, other than in Paris or one of the major cities, so you sit in a bar to drink it or stand at the counter to do as it’s cheaper if you drink it this way.

If you want milk with your coffee you immediately identify yourself as a foreigner. You can have milk but you have to ask for it when you order and what you get is milk milk! Stuff that comes from a cow. Don’t even think of asking for oat milk, soya milk, almond milk or anything that is not milk from a cow because you will probably get deported!

If you don’t want sugar…tough. You will almost always be given a packet of two sugar lumps. Many French people dunk the sugar lump on the hot coffee for a few seconds then eat it like a sweet!!

You can get a (slightly) larger coffee, ‘un café allongé,’ which is the original espresso in a larger cup but with added hot water. The previous comments about milk still apply here.

You can now get ‘un café crème’ (espresso with hot milk) or a cappuccino (espresso with foamed milk) but these are still small drinks by UK or US standards. If you want a 20oz coffee, emigrate.

Have a nice day
Wow. Remind me not to go back! 😂

Seriously, I had a great time there last year. My niece lives in Paris and Altho she was a great guide, she could not be there every minute, so I explored and had a great time. Google translate was my friend and as long as you made an attempt, most people gave me a free pass for making an effort.

Had some amazing meals. I did find the coffees to be quite small and not to my liking.

I took the train from Berlin and I think went right thru your area, near strasbourg.

We have those brick roads in my hometown. On the east coast I think it’s only second to Charleston. The candy shop right beside Schmidt’s has some dark chocolate peanut butter cups…it took me three days to eat just one! I think it’s owned by the same family. Always a treat to go. There’s also a used book store that’s in a house a few blocks over I like to drop in on. Every room has a different theme and every room has its own music! Not sure if it’s part of the German Village but close enough.

Everyone get a drop on the weekend. I’m heading to San Fran today. Put a rose on Lesh’s monument.

Goat roping sounds stressful. I always pictured my herd grazing on a mountainside as I sit by a meandering brook…

Probably get a big dog like this guy. He can do the hard work chasing…

I’ve been threatening to do this for years🤣. As I joked about it once, my wife says, “you’re serious aren’t you?” 😂🤣
Sounds like a goat rope to me!! 😂

That sounds amazing. I’m glad you could escape so you could get a break from your allergies.
