The GOP has evolved into an ideological party since 1964, but the Democrats have remained a coalition of interest groups. Any "identity politics" comes from those groups, is demanded by them. It is not cooked up by party leadership and imposed on them.

And there was never any "Democrat welfare plantation" -- a phrase still current, I've seen it on this board, even though the kind of welfare referred to was abolished in the Clinton Admin.

Like I said in the other thread...,

Liz is going to be surprised to her that.

The democrat party has become a coalition of the mentally unstable. :)
One can never spot any mentally stable persons at MAGA rallies - or even at the RNC, any more. That's really sad. The GOP used to be a lot better than that. But that was all before the 1970s. The 1976 RNC got really ugly. And it has remained so ever since.

There is no such thing as the “democrat party”. It’s impossible to take anything you say seriously when you don’t even know the names of the parties.

Yes.

The white party patriarchy believes they can herd them while claiming to have heard them and understand them, their needs, as it were, which are myriad and which will require funding, your taxes.

Your taxes will, yes, have to go up, but don't you see, you'll be so much better off for it because others will be better off because of you.

Don't you believe in charity???

Yes.

No, that's very definitely a Republican thing. The plutocrats herd the working-class redhats, and continue to screw them over after every victory. Nobody is herding the factions represented by Al Sharpton, etc., nor giving them any reason to regret voting D.

There you go bro.

She's as predictable as my neighbor's rooster.

She haunts the board looking perpetually for the missing ICs.

It's her tick and one of those things that makes the DemocraTICK Party "special."

Because that missing "ic" is the Hoy Grail and one true measure of political acumen, Allah forbid you type as people speak...

... in a place resplendent with WRITERS!

Nobody, but, nobody, not even Democrats, runs around calling themselves Democratics and rarely does anyone say Democratic Party...

We probably shouldn't listen to a fucking word they say because of it.

But please, make this your "nuanced" litmus test.

No IC! The strip turns pink.

“… rarely does anyone say Democratic Party …” says at lot about the circles you travel in. The right wing uses “Democrat Party” so often they’ve come to believe that that’s the party’s real name and lose their shit when they get called on it.

Democrat Party:

The Democrat Party (AKA the Democrat Socialist Party, the Radical Liberal™ Party, or the Chinese Communist Socialist Deep-State Media Woke Cancel Culture SJW BLM Antifa Party) is a political party that many Republicans seem to think is their primary opposition.[1]

Unlike the Democratic Party, the Democrat Party is made up entirely of Jewish, homosexual, communistic, tree-hugging, pot-smoking, Satan-worshiping, reptilian, Christ-hating Chinese spies intent on confiscating guns, destroying the family, indoctrinating schoolchildren into Marxism and homosexuality, painting every freeway lane with HOV diamonds, raising taxes to 100%, aborting every unborn fetus, conducting all official state business in drag, and negotiating for snuggles with the leaders of the Axis of Evil.

Another important difference between the Democrat Party and the Democratic Party is that the "Democrat Party" does not exist.

The use of "Democrat Party" as an epithet by Republicans has arguably led to oversensitivity among some Democratic activists who think saying "Democrat activists" instead of "Democratic activists" is an intentional slur. Saying "Democrat politicians", "Democrat-controlled legislature", "Democrat voters", "Democrat senator", "Democrat representative", "Democrat governor", "Democrat candidate", "Democrat president", and so on tends to raise hackles among some people these days. Although these are still incorrect, they are often said out of ignorance and not out of malice, sometimes even by Democrats themselves. Although it was still used religiously by Donald Trump and his apologists, such as Rush Limbaugh and substitutes. Also worth pointing out is the fact that Democrats commonly say "vote Democrat", instead of "vote Democratic".

On a serious note, the term is not limited to contemporary usage; partisan Republicans as far back as 1889 (yes, before the Southern Strategy) employed "Democrat Party" as a pejorative in speeches denouncing their opponents as rebels and supporters of free trade.[2]

I hear the cock crow...

I am sure that in your tight-knit circle, everyone always very consciousnessly uses the term Democratic every time they speak, but that does not imply that it is in common usage, the the Scrabble™ way.

People say Democrats and people say Democrat party.

Look around. You are the bump in the road.

There's a long history of it here,
for example...

This bears repeating.

You just made my point.

Thank you.

NOBODY SAYS REPUBLIC PARTY!

Nobody says Democratic Party...

We say the Republicans, the Democrats, The Republican Party and The Democrat Party.

Even the yard signs say: ELECT Joe Schmuck DEMOCRAT

(of course, that could be just local to Redneckiastan)

You just made my point.

Thank you.

If your point is that it's the Republican and Democratic parties and not the Democrat and Republic parties, then yes.

A person is a Democrat. The party is the Democratic party.

Point being, what the Pubs call Democratic "identity politics" are not really any reason not to vote D.
