The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Mornin’ everybody!

Saddle up and ready to ride at this ungodly hour of 0648!

Off to corporate Zombieland. Very big presentation today and I’m a little concerned that the technology won’t work.

A stacked schedule.

Typical corporate bullshit.

We’ll get thru it.

Hope everyone had a great sleep and will have a great day. Talk to yaz all later.
I bet you knocked your presentation out of the park, W! 🥰

I hate the stuff. On it currently, really didn't have a choice. Talked to the Dr about something similar (less harsh), for low dose continuous use. We're looking into that. Something has to change.
Low dose steroids is an option for some. Unfortunately for me, I'm not good with any amount. 😖

I hope you find your solution.

They're different, but it's not super clear. Trickle chargers way back when used to be dumb. Modern float chargers are smart units that monitor battery voltage, and should also monitor ambient temperature. They adjust the voltage going to the battery, and cycle charging on and off depending on where the battery is at.

I've seen old school trickle chargers kill batteries. The modern ones have extended battery life 2 or 3 times in my experience.

I also adhere to the old wives tale about not keeping them on a concrete floor. Don't know if that matters, but I just do it anyway.
Thanks for this! I'll look into it and ask my boat guy. The battery is currently living on the workbench in the garage. The top is an old wooden bowling alley floor.

When they took all that away and made us look like drones to be mistaken as transport or lab (no offense to them) it took a lot of our power away and we let it happen. Worst thing that ever happen to nursing was magnet. More focus on letters behind the name and not on the profession of nursing. There was a recent study that over 50% of a nurses day is spent doing paperwork. AND...we are brainwashed to thing to be a "good" nurse we need to sacrifice our own needs and what is right because "that is what a good nurse does" well that is straight up bullshit.... and when a bunch of whinging women get together it is mahem..... and nothing gets done because all the decisions are based on emotion and not the cold hard facts....
I agree with some of your points. I was personally delighted to wear scrubs. They're way more comfortable. And less worry about spills or god-knows-what getting on them.

I do agree with you on the charting. Computerized charting was supposed to make it easier on the nurse and free up time for patient care. I hadn't found that to be the case by the time I retired.

One of the good things unionization brought to the bedside nurse was getting paid for the work we did. However, moving into a salaried position made it harder to prioritize self. I constantly worked on that, mostly unsuccessfully.

I hear similar things from my buddy.

He often complains about being a male nurse, he's expected to help move people around that are too big for other nurses to move. He's not a brute, but is male, so...
I always said it was nice to have a man around the house! I loved working with the men. Men are less inclined to accept the bullshit status quo thrust upon nurses. That said, there is an art and science on moving patients. It's best to make it a team effort so no one is hurt.

The concept of working together for the good of the patient and give and take is lost these days..... I always did personal care on females for my guy rn friends if they asked.... that gained me loyalty and if I had problems or needed a guys strength (physical or other ways) they were always willing to step in to help. These days it doesn't work that way
That's unfortunate. I did the same. In most of the units I worked, we traded off tasks with each other for the good of the patients and to work as a team. There was variable success depending on who was working that particular shift.

I had a dr appointment today but then had truck trouble on the way. I missed my appointment and was kind of freaked out by the time I got home. I hate it when the vehicles have trouble. I don't know how to fix that. 😤😤😤

I have my replacement appointment today from when the bike f*cked up last week on the way in. Meh. We'll get there eventually. At least we have back-up vehicles.
