The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I'll look into this. Thanks! Is a float charger the same as a trickle charger?
They're different, but it's not super clear. Trickle chargers way back when used to be dumb. Modern float chargers are smart units that monitor battery voltage, and should also monitor ambient temperature. They adjust the voltage going to the battery, and cycle charging on and off depending on where the battery is at.

I've seen old school trickle chargers kill batteries. The modern ones have extended battery life 2 or 3 times in my experience.

I also adhere to the old wives tale about not keeping them on a concrete floor. Don't know if that matters, but I just do it anyway.

Well a busy day beckons. Out on the hill.working the boys and now on pheasants so harder work for us all. Then a mad rush to get to the fly tying club AGM...be starting teaching in a couple of weeks. So that's my Wednesday nights taken for 5 months!
Give the boys an extra treat for me.... they will need it on the hill chasing g pheasants.....

Anyone else see KAOS on Netflix. Worth watching, if a bit mythology nerdy.

Edit: might go good with a rum and coke. (Although I prefer a cranberry and absolute.)
Always looking for something to binge on. A series or movie? I just finished binging Last Night at Tremore Beach. Bit of a mind bender but turned out well…lots of twists and turns. The music was beautiful (the protagonist is a concert pianist) and the cinematography was stunning.

Lots of catching up to do, so missed about eight pages. I’ll leave the MZ and catch up later. Have a great HumpDay all…😍

A German Shorthair doing what he does best!

They do not wear the white uniforms with the cute hats. I wonder how the evolved and then they were gone.
When they took all that away and made us look like drones to be mistaken as transport or lab (no offense to them) it took a lot of our power away and we let it happen. Worst thing that ever happen to nursing was magnet. More focus on letters behind the name and not on the profession of nursing. There was a recent study that over 50% of a nurses day is spent doing paperwork. AND...we are brainwashed to thing to be a "good" nurse we need to sacrifice our own needs and what is right because "that is what a good nurse does" well that is straight up bullshit.... and when a bunch of whinging women get together it is mahem..... and nothing gets done because all the decisions are based on emotion and not the cold hard facts....

I hear similar things from my buddy.

He often complains about being a male nurse, he's expected to help move people around that are too big for other nurses to move. He's not a brute, but is male, so...

The concept of working together for the good of the patient and give and take is lost these days..... I always did personal care on females for my guy rn friends if they asked.... that gained me loyalty and if I had problems or needed a guys strength (physical or other ways) they were always willing to step in to help. These days it doesn't work that way

That sounds like a great hobby requiring very steady hands. Good to pass this kind of knowledge onto another generation (or the same one).

When I was a kid, you would see ringtail pheasants all the time. I don’t think I’ve seen one in 30 or 35 years. What kind of pheasants do you have in Scotland?
Ring necks largely and various cross breeds

Do you heat your home with wood?

If so, how many cords do you use per year?
Fuck that shit. We're civilized here and use a high efficiency natural gas boiler to keep the hydronic radiant floors toasty.

Some people thing that burning word or biomass is sustainable and better then good old gas, but when you're burning the bio faster than it grows, is it really? Plus, If you've ever been in a heavily populated area where there's a lot of wood being burned, the air quality is the pits. Even with the new high efficiency stoves.

We burn wood at the cabin and we have about 5 or 6 cords split, stacked, and dry in the woodshed. It's just an every other weekend thing or a week here and there. That wood comes from our property and so far, there's more to be harvested than we can use due to the spruce beetle kill.

Heat pumps are supposed to be the new panacea.
(Warning: Geeky Engineer. Proceed with caution!)

Ran all the numbers. Spent a week doing and checking the math
Heat pump was the cheapest option for heating the new house.
Open loop geothermal, beats propane by 2x or 3x.
Natural gas would have same fuel cost as heat pump, but not available here.
