Texas early voting begins today for ten days.

Most churches, mosques and synagogues are NOT opening as early voting centers this year, due to what Texas attorney general Ken Paxson calls "international conflicts". I checked the list and saw exactly one "unitarian" church and one mosque open in Houston.

Hampton Inns and Sheraton hotels have stepped up and offered their business conference rooms as early voting locations here in Houston. Most city halls, community centers and junior colleges are open as early voting locations.

As a reminder, early voters can vote wherever a voting site is open but only for early voting. If you vote on election day, you must vote at your assigned precinct.

"Jimmy, John and Jane", the three Texas Supreme Court Justices who authored the decision upholding the horrific "bitches must first 'bleed out' in the hospital parking lot before being allowed treatment for miscarriage" law are all up for reelection this year. These Texas Supreme Court justices are more radical than anyone currently sitting on the United States Supreme Court. If you live in Texas, please consider voting against these three radical extremists.

Texas' largest newspaper (or second-largest, depending on who you ask) endorses Allred for his willingness to work in a bi-partisan fashion and slates cruz for his agitation around refusing to accept that Biden won the presidency.

The editorial praised Allred's willingness to work with Republicans, arguing that the Texas congressman has "demonstrated over time that both the words and action of bipartisanship matter to him."
The editorial criticized Cruz for promoting "the politics of division," noting that he "could have supported the peaceful transfer of power in the 2020 presidential election" but didn't.

The Dallas Morning Herald's editorial board wrote, "He instead was the first senator to rise in objection to certifying the electoral vote and one of just six to do so. His actions were a catalyst for what became one of the worst days in our nation's history."

with the polls showing a neck and neck, with Allred even having a possible slight lead, all endorsements are welcome.

Ah, more folks that need to get fired. Hopefully, the prospect of doing so "fires up" some folks and maybe even gives some upset victories here in Texas.

Sure, vote for Allred, Texans, but it's not enough. You're never gonna live down W.

You're never even gonna live down Hank Hill.

??

i've been here 7.5 years now and this reference eludes me so care to enlighten me?

Animated sitcom. The characters, most of whom are too stupid to be human, are supposed to be stereotypical Texans.
thanks... on a similar note, i watched the first episode of Florida Man last night; it's actors portraying real-life floridian inanities with the actual people chiming in throughout, too.

Last night was about a cash-strapped guy who wanted to go see the group or DJ he followed and went on craigslist to offer his services. After turning down sexual advances, he settled with some dude who wanted him to cut off 3 of his toes, cook and eat them while he watched... for money. The first guy agreed, 'forgetting' he was a vegetarian, but things didn't work out so well since the toe-guy kept chickening out just before the chop using a safe word: his first excuse was he was a karate instructor and he probably couldn't teach without the toes; the second try it was because what would he tell his parents and the third i don't even recall now :D He ended up paying the first guy anyway and no laws got broken. It could have turned out so much worse for either of the two involved!

Voted early yesterday as noted, only a bit of a hiccup about my Arizona ID, but at least I brought my voter's ID card. The election judge ruled in my favor and I voted for the entire Democratic ticket, plus for more funding for local schools. Take that, Ted Cruz!

👍

For a moment I thought “Ted Cruz must be the worst Senator”, but then I remembered that Rick Scott and Tommy Tuberville exist.

Republicans sure do like to vote for shitheads.

On the plus side, Alabama never got stuck with Roy Moore.

Don't forget John Kennedy -- no, the Pub from Louisiana.

I refuse to believe the state that gave us Buddy Holly and Nanci Griffith can't be redeemed.
Getting rid of Cruz would be a damn good start.

Well, I did my part in that. Whatever else happens, I can sleep at night.

As much as I don't like Ted Cruz, I want him to spend rest of his years in Cancun.
