I hate to change the subject (actually, I'm desperate to change this subject), but... the meeting I was dreading for today got postponed. The facilitator has strep throat. Hooray for strep throat!



If there were to be a trivia night at ye olde publick house, which category(ies) of questions would you get all the answers right?

Yes Ma'am, I should've clarified that better. Govts. Create debt, but they really don't HAVE debt... They simply place the debt onto us, our kids, and grandkids...
Think of it as "Blame Shifting" on a massive scale, in dollars.

That’s a perennial problem - but they also create investment, in people, capital, etc
Without trying to completely oversimplify - people take out mortgages for a sensible inevitable in something of worth, (albeit often overcharged but that’s a separate question)
Governments likewise borrow in order to be able to invest in the future; yes it creates debt obligations for the future, as past borrowing has for today, but the resulting growth makes funding that possible
Government debt is only a problem if it’s unsustainable

Compare the national debt to having our credit cards maxed out to the point that every dime of income we make, BARELY covers the interest payment on our cards.... That's where the Govt is at currently, except it's worse, due to their "wordsmithery"...
Say our national debt is $30 trillion.... They also have a line item they call " Unfunded Liabilities" which you or I would call "debt" in our household finances... Last time I checked it, the US Unfunded Liabilities were $220 trillion....

I’m not sure I would recognize the difference…!

As a metaphor for a classic seesaw battle between the forces of good and evil, last night's game had all of the dramatic elements worthy to be told as a Hollywood epic.

In the end duing a very bleak moment, the forces of good snatched a most triumphant victory out of the jaws of defeat. The guy that hit the grand slam to win the game most assuredly got Royally laid after the game.

Also government and politics, history, geography, and religion. I'd do well in some music, movie, and sports categories but not in others.

Yet it’s still in the top 15 credit ratings globally
Nobody is gonna stop lending to the US, in part because of the high value placed by others on the dollar
Which means the debt is sustainable, particularly as some of that worsening of outlook came as a result of the pandemic ie a black swan event

Good morning to the Court and all visitors to the realm.

Your loyal Alchemist has had a nice weekend so far, taking care of non-court errands and hanging out with Prince Charming.

I dreamt vividly again last night, and for the second time I have dreamt about the court! The first was a general dream about the thread itself. Last night's was quite detailed, and was about our Queen, Mia. In the dream, we were not part of the royal court, just regular people.

It began with me working on a small piece of equipment, trying to get it to work. It seemed vital that I succeed, and I did. It soon became clear that I was working on a means of transportation to cross the vast waters in front of us. Why, I don't know, but it was urgent. The means of transportation? A Fender Telecaster with an ash body. ?!?!?

The next part of the dream involved the Queen and I traveling across the water. I held the body of the guitar close to me, even with the surface of the water, and it propelled us with a powerful engine or jet of water - hard to tell exactly. Mia was right next to me, holding on to the neck of the guitar. A lot of the dream was just the difficulty of the crossing. It was pretty miserable feeling. We were beaten by the waves, and our hands were tired from holding on. Interestingly, Mia's hair was not wet. It was blowing in the breeze. I have a very vivid memory of looking to my right and seeing her with her hair streaming out.

At last we saw land. It was a rocky-looking shoreline, and we drew close and were heading along it, looking for a place to go ashore. We were cruising along, looking right, at the shoreline, and suddenly a huge crocodile or alligator head appeared right in front of us! It was swimming right at us, so I swerved to avoid it and we became entangled in the rocks. The last thing I remember from the dream was Mia, pushing hard against the rocks with her legs, and me trying to get the guitar body maneuvered the right way to get us free, and the croc was bearing down on us!!

At that point, I woke up, heart pounding and gasping for air!

It was very intense! I am sure that the Queen and I broke free, though.

When I was laying there replaying the dream, I remember thinking, "Why an ash-bodied Telecaster? Ash would just sink, wouldn't it?" That must have come from one of Prince Charming's friends who has a similar guitar and was talking about the weight.

Okay, time for another coffee. I hope everyone has a good day!

And for anyone who thought it was going to be a sex dream - sorry to disappoint!

And what an extraordinary dream!! Or nightmare perhaps lol
I’m sure we will have broken free from the evil gator, through ingenuity or determination or both!
I do like the idea of hair staying streaming and dry amid all that lol
But maybe next time, have a dream of us supping wine in the Court while the quartets play, before journeying somewhere exotic by foot or plane or dragon, rather than, er, an ash-bodied Telecaster lol?!
