Girls, is sex-work liberating? Boys, would you join the queue?

If you wrote this girl's tale, would it be celebratory or cautionary?

Starts at 2.43, give Boris a miss.

No, I don't think it's the new "normal." But I'm not sure what "new normal" means.

Is it liberating? Does it matter? Is skydiving liberating? Is it liberating when Joey Chestnut enters competitive eating competitions and tries to eat as many hot dogs as possible in 10 minutes? Nobody even asks the question. The interesting thing is that we still have trouble accepting the idea that a woman just wants to have sex with a lot of men.

If I wrote the tale, I would write it as celebratory, because it would be a much more fun story that way. Caution is a dick killer.

There are some books worth reading on the subject where actual sex workers have their say, such as Coming Out Like A Porn Star by Jiz Lee (ed.). There are also podcasts such as Sex Out Loud by Tristan Taormino and Why Are People Into That? by Tina Horn.

I am personally skeptical of the opinions of people who don't have this sort of firsthand experience. For a whole smorgasbord of reasons, the average person may not have the most reliable idea of what the day to day reality of a sex worker is like.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Well, you asked.

Thine word 'we'; doth a lot of heavy lifting, does't thou use it as polite reference to thyself, as in Royal 'we', or in current usage, as a reference to yourself and at least one other person. As a well past half-centennial, do you speak for your cohort alone, or do you presume to speak for Millenials, Gen Z and those other children who will inherit the Earth.

I posted this thread because I watched a news programme where this was discussed, and it seemed to pit the older against the younger. The idea that women should not want to have sex with a lot of men died, in my culture, long before I was born. There was an issue about whether it was a career choice to be encouraged.

We have a deputy prime minister whose son and daughter-in-law did porn on Only Fans and it's barely a matter worth comment. Is the day coming when parents will openly boast about their child's successful career in porn as they do about their career in law or medicine?

My feeling on Only Fans, porn, any type of sex work is this.

Men judge these women, call them whores, say no decent man would ever want them, shame them etc...

Yet, these sorry excuses for men fail to realize something.

Who is signing up for onlyfans? Men
Who goes to strip clubs-Men
Who is the majority audience for porn? Men
Who pays for sex? Men (mostly)
What sad lot runs to Hooters to see girls in tight t-shirts and shorts? Men.

So, if a guy is the type to judge these women, why is it the women they judge? Why don't they ever look at their own gender and call out how weak they are? Why do they never blame their own for supporting it?

Every business is supply and demand. No customers, no sales, no business.

The fact is there is nothing wrong with women choosing to do this-with the keyword choose-and on the topic of Only fans specifically, they control everything and are not part of the sometimes still sketchy porn industry. There is also nothing wrong with men who are involved in the sex industry, and certainly nothing wrong with men who enjoy watching and supporting these women. Unless of course, and like any addiction, its somehow taking over your life.

We live in a time where gambling on sports is now legal and every other commercial is for gambling, and people are losing everything because its feeding an addiction, but...that's not a problem. Pot is now legal in many places and maybe-maybe-10% of users are doing this for medical purposes, so...its legal to be a stoned zombie 24/7

Yet one end of this society still continues to act like we're in the 1950's in anything regarding sex and porn.

The faction of "men" who are against these women, are that way for one reason. They are angry women control their bodies, angry they can't control them, and most of all, angry that these women are charging and not just giving it to them.

Back to why they never blame their own gender for creating this industry it's because nothing is ever a man's fault in man baby world.

This goes all the way back to the Bible. It's Eve's fault Adam ate the apple. Because you know, he said no, so she beat him, tied him down, and force fed it to him. Um, well, no, she said try this and he said sure. But what fun is it for a certain type of man if they can't blame women for all their problems?

None of these men are men. They're insecure hateful little boys. Amazing how many we see in the comments sections, and even the boards on a porn site. Then again, the MO of many of these is they're enamored with the industry then get pissed off they are...so its women's fault.

Gosh, you're the tedious preacher ever. What makes you think you have the higher moral grounds to preach?

I agree with most of this, but the one caveat I would make is that it is not just men who disapprove, by a long shot. Women disapprove too. This isn't just a "men are angry at women" thing. This is thousands of years of religion and culture at work. It IS, I think, about controlling women. The idea that sex work can be just like anything else and that women should be free to use their bodies the way they want to is threatening to many people's basic ways of looking at things.

To answer XXX's question about whether one day we will look at it as a career choice like law or medicine, I have no idea. I suspect we've still got a long way to go until we're there. It might depend upon how much money one can make from it. A few OF creators make a lot of money, but most don't.

I agree with most of this except that I don't believe the reason for this behavior is the man-baby mentality. I think it's just the same kind of conscious shameless hypocrisy that rules most other aspects of life, politics above all.

They look at you with the same distaste you have for them. As a bystander, I’m not sure who’s worse.
I'm sure they do, and that's their right. I see them as misogynistic whiny little boys. They see me as a simp, white night, or the oh so eloquent term faggot. Because to them, no man should defend these women.

As for your remark. If you can't decide that someone who attacks these women is wrong.... I'm not surprised. They speak your language, don't they?

I'm pretty sure she's not the the first woman to let 100+ guys do her in one day.

I don't have a problem with anyone wanting to experience the same - but, wow, huge risk of STDs.

I do feel there's a concern about doing it for content creation, especially since content creation and the addiction to celebrity can lead to unhealthy extremes. Will others now feel that doing 100+ men is somehow necessary as a gateway to success?

Annabelle Chong (Grace Quek) set a record back in 1995. She gives her reason and her mother reacts here. Since then porn has become democratised, there are as many citizen porn-stars as citizen journalists and independent TV stations.

I say good for Lily Philips. I am so sick of men telling women about female sexuality - what's acceptable and what's not; what's liberating and what's degrading.

Especially all the "white knights" who want to swoop in and "save us" from ourselves because there is just no way a woman could ever enjoy rough, kinky sex.

Singer Lily Allen recently said she makes more money selling just feet picks on Onlyfans than she does with her music on whatever platforms carry it.

Guess there's a lot more of us weak immoral men out there than the "good ones" we'll even pay to see feet.

It's all about the antiquated definition of what is a "good woman."

There's some shitty channel that pops up here and there on Tiktok where OF/Porn stars answer questions from this group of "coughs" Men who take exception to their lifestyle and insult and shame them.

In one bit the guy asks the woman if she dates anyone for real, does she divulge the 'body count' as in does she say how many men she slept with prior.

She says she doesn't feel she needs to.

This putz then uses the analogy of a domestic abuser "So if you date a man who has hit women, you wouldn't want to know who many women he hit?"

He's equating an actual crime with how many partners someone has had.

I have friends who have had Onlyfans, it got them through lockdown and they’d say it was liberating.. for one, theres descretion, for another, you choose what you want to post, and to keep going, you can screen who you want access. There is also an irony in them realizing the same guys who “wouldn’t be attracted to a girl like them” were now paying a subscription fee to prove themselves wrong. One friend of mine, also married, was only posting pics of her in underwear but when she realized a guy she knew in real life and thought was hot was subscribed she sent him her first nude and ended up masturbating to it for weeks after. She never told her hubby but that she had the option of such choices is liberating. Yes, it can turn into an addiction but it also gives a woman more control over her circumstances and ironically she still got more sexually harrassed as a barista at a coffee bar then she does on Onlyfans where most men are polite and if they aren’t, she can ban them.

I'm currently writing a futuristic book where one sub-plot is prostitution has been legalized and some of the workers enjoy a celebrity -like status. Like some actors or singers have today. STDs have been eradicated and there's no unplanned pregnancies.

There are still men out there who blame women working for many societal issues today.

They still want women barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen while having no job skills and being dependent on them.

Divorce rates began creeping up when women began going to work, and also to college while a lot of men clowned around with meh jobs. Once the point was reached women didn't have to put up with men's shit because they couldn't survive on their own financially, the game changed, and a certain type doesn't like the new rules.
Only fan is a great platform because unlike the porn industry, the women choose what they'll do, show, etc. They call the shots as indy creators. Even Porn hub features as much content in the way of couples making their own content than it does mainstream porn producers. There's also a site clips four sale which is mostly amateur women-and men-creating their own vids and selling them, again doing exactly what and who they choose.

I fail to see the harm in any of it, but I also wasn't indoctrinated into any religious or conservative beliefs when I was younger. I think a lot of the guys-and women-against this are from those groups. Brainwashing is a terrible thing.
