I posted this thread because I watched a news programme where this was discussed, and it seemed to pit the older against the younger. I agree with most of this, but the one caveat I would make is that it is not just men who disapprove, by a long shot. Women disapprove too. This isn't just a "men are angry at women" thing. This is thousands of years of religion and culture at work. It IS, I think, about controlling women. The idea that sex work can be just like anything else and that women should be free to use their bodies the way they want to is threatening to many people's basic ways of looking at things.

To answer XXX's question about whether one day we will look at it as a career choice like law or medicine, I have no idea. I suspect we've still got a long way to go until we're there. There are still men out there who blame women working for many societal issues today.

They still want women barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen while having no job skills and being dependent on them.

Divorce rates began creeping up when women began going to work, and also to college while a lot of men clowned around with meh jobs.
