Sex & Shenanigans

It's been a loooong day.
I actually heard someone break out that gem of a douchebag phrase, "My taxes pay your salary," saying it to a teacher who was trying to redirect parents away from parking in the staff lot at the elementary school. Then he nearly hit a kid while trying to drive around that teacher to get into the lot. Fortunately, the SRO happened to be nearby and saw the whole thing. The absolute dressing down he gave the driver was a thing of beauty.
But now I'm home with just our youngest while the rest of the family is out. We're watching 90's music videos and eating dino nuggets and all is right with the world.

Glad someone told him off and he didn’t actually hit anyone! 😱

Favorite 90s videos?

It has to be 90's??? Fine!

I didn't discover this until much later... but it is f-ing brilliant!
Yes, he specifically said he was watching 90s videos!

Right now Stone Temple Pilots "Vaseline" is on. I don't know I can pick a favorite, though. "Black Hole Sun," "No Rain," and "Virtual Insanity" all come to mind. But there's tons I love.
Oooh I love Black Hole Sun and have been feeling all Soundgarden/Audioslave/Chris Cornell songs extra hard in the past year or so. No Rain is a good one too, but poor Bee Girl getting bullied so hard over it!

Damn I loved early No Doubt so much, especially the guitar on Don’t Speak. Once they got into the Hey Baby and Hella Good phase and Gwen’s solo stuff though, not so much 🤐

Hmm…off the top of my head…

Anytime, Anyplace - Janet Jackson
This one has always resonated with my slutty and borderline exhibitionist sides so hard, before I even knew what exhibitionism was. Such a hot video 🔥🥵🔥

Big Me - Foo Fighters
Loved their humor, long before they eventually became one of my favorite bands.

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Okay, this one is kinda cheating because the SONG is older than 90s, but they recut the video with the Wayne’s World release, and it’s my favorite song ever, so 😜

Buddy Holly - Weezer
What can I say? I’m a sucker for 50s kitsch

Crazy - Aerosmith
Alicia Silverstone and Liv Tyler. ‘Nuff said!

Fly - Sugar Ray
I loved Mark McGrath so much back then. He became exponentially less hot as a tabloid TV show host, and repulsive once he was photographed partying with Jared and Ivanka 🤢🤮 He liked one of my tweets a couple years ago and I felt nothing. Teenage me loved him though.

I Get Around - Tupac
This is more of a retroactive love. Even though I was VERY into hip-hop and R&B for most of the 90s, much of their videos back then weren’t big on storytelling, including this one. I just love seeing how full of joy he was back then, especially bittersweet knowing what happened to him.

November Rain - Guns N Roses
Just epic, and Slash’s guitar solo?! 🎸

Paranoid Android - Radiohead
IDK…us 90s kids liked our fucked up cartoons. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So many more, but I need to get set up for movie night starting soon!

I was a professional musician, playing in bands in Northern Nevada when someone brought this to me.

As a Gen X? I thought “hella” sounded a lot like “fucking stupid”. And I truly found nothing “good” about that song.

All these years later, I still think it is fucking shitty. Sorry.
Yeah I hated those 2. They were the beginning of the end of No Doubt.
