Below the belt

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — European, Arab and Islamic nations have launched an initiative to strengthen support for a Palestinian state and its institutions, and prepare for a future after the war in Gaza and escalating conflict in Lebanon, Norway’s foreign minister said Friday.

Espen Barth Eide told The Associated Press that “there is a growing consensus in the international community from Western countries, from Arab countries, from the Global South, that we need to establish a Palestinian Authority, a Palestinian government, a Palestinian state — and the Palestinian state has to be recognized.”

Eide said many issues need to be addressed, including the security interests of Israel and the Palestinians, recognition and normalization of relations after decades of conflict and the demobilization of Hamas as a military group.
Even so, getting netanyahu on board is likely to prove troublesome.
To accelerate work on these issues, Eide said almost 90 countries attended a meeting Thursday on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly’s current gathering of world leaders. He and Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister co-chaired the session to launch “The Global Alliance for the Implementation of a Palestinian State and a Two-State Solution.”
“We have to see how we can come out of this deadlock and try to use this deep crisis also as an opportunity to move forward,” Eide told a U.N. Security Council meeting on Gaza later Friday.

Norway is the guarantor of the 1993 Oslo Accords, hailed as a breakthrough in the decades-long conflict between Arabs and Jews, which created the Palestinian Authority and set up self-rule areas in the Palestinian Authority. Eide said more than 30 years later, Israel’s “occupation” is continuing, and there there are no negotiations leading to a final settlement and an independent Palestinian state — which led to Norway’s decision in May to recognize a Palestinian state.

i hope so. a full-blown war serves no-one well

I suppose we need to see if Qassem becomes the leader or if Nasrallah's cousin will, and if the cousin is more for peace than Qassem (despite such strong ties to Iran leadership)

I’m seeing reports now that Hassan Khalil Yassin replaced Nasrallah as the head of Hezbollah this morning.

Israel killed him this afternoon with another air strike.

The demoralization of Hezbollah and Hamas is just amazing to watch. There's no way that either group feels safe to contribute to the cause at this point.

I really hope Hamas gives up and releases the rest of the hostages. I fear they may just murder them all out of viciousness and spite.

was this the guy who was cousin to nasrallah and married into soleimani's family?

that's a distinct possibility—and one the families of those hostages rightfully fear as they've continually called for Israel to talk peace to get them back.

Hamas wrecked a deal last year by offering to return the bodies of hostages Israel knew were still alive. Hopefully Israel’s recent success against Hezbollah will convince Hamas that the only hope they have to save themselves is to free the remaining hostages unharmed.

That won't save them now. Israel would take them back and resume the attacks.

Gazans live in a concentration camp. They are unlikely to stop hating the guards.

They will if they're dead. Remember what we did to places like Hamburg and Dresden and WW2. That's what's needed. A defeat that's so annihilatingly awful that it breaks their will. Completely. Followed by a generation of occupation and re-education, and of course hanging any and all members of Hamas. Basically, bomb the place to rubble, make the rubble bounce, firebomb the ruins and finish off anything that still resists. THEN hang any Hamas survivors as war criminals and start over.

Anyhow, Gaza is NOT a concentration camp. It's quite a sizable mini-state, could easily be another Singapore or Bahrain. But nope....they decided to go another route and now look at the place.....the only reason they were sealed off to start with was because of the constant terror attacks. Now they're going to find out what being REALLY sealed off means.

Israel apparently dropped 83 bunker busting 1-ton bombs against Nasrallah’s bunker. They sure did the job. Nothing but dust left.

Iranian Officials state that a Group of Officers and Commanders with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRCG), including Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan, the Deputy Commander of Operations for the IRGC as well as the Acting Commander of Quds Force Operations in Syria and Lebanon; were all Killed in the Israeli Strike on Hezbollah’s Central Command Bunker in Beirut. Bonus. Guess the Iranian Ambassador was lucky his pager went off first.

The Muslim sympathizers in the State Dept. are probably getting nervous right now too. Wonder how many of them have ditched their mobiles lately?

LOL. For anyone who ever took "Kackson Hinkle" seriously. Outrage theatre at it's most obnoxious and revolting

ChloeTzang, in reality the Palestinians are the descendants of the philistines. This hate, blood feud and war goes back 2-3000 years.... I had stated in the beginning that Palestine would resemble the surface of the moon...and this shit recently was/is all about a red heifer...... go figure..... I'll add now that Egypt has stepped in the mix most likely this will be the war that's is nuclear..... either that or it'll come out of Ukraine before the election....just my humble opinion 🤷‍♀️

Local investigations suggest the Lebanese militant group's No. 2, Hashem Safieddine, 60, the late leader's cousin, will likely assume the role.

Safieddine is one of the few remaining high-level commanders who survived after Israel nearly wiped out its entire command.

Now, he is seen as the most likely heir due to his seniority and personal ties to Iran.

In an interview with Al-Mayadeen channel in May of 2020, Safieddine declared that Israel "will cease to exist in 25 years."

Safieddine, similar to Nasrallah, wears a black turban suggesting he is a descendent of Prophet Muhammad and has strong ties to Iran, Hezbollah's primary backer. Additionally, he also holds strong anti-Israel and anti-US positions.

The State Department described Safieddine as a senior Hezbollah leader responsible for "acts of terrorism that threaten the security of US nationals or the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the US."

Saudi Arabia followed suit the same year for his support of Hezbollah's "terrorist operations" and activities in Syria
on behalf of President Bashar al-Assad.

Most "Palestinians" are descendants of Arab immigrants from neighboring countries who were drawn their by job and work opportunities created by the Jews after WW1 when Zionists began flocking to Palestine and buying land from largely Turkish landowners, who sold them mostly (for them) unproductive land and desert at outrageously extortionist prices. Yasser Arafat for example, was from Egypt and you will find many, if not most, "Palestinian" families are similar.

Never let it be said that Israel would fail to commit a war crime unless it would benefit them. They've been doing shit like this since the '90s. A bunch of us in Canada organized Aid to send old computers there and they got held up in Israeli customs and then released but the locks have been broken all the parts of value stolen and the rest urinated on. We did an investigation and traced a lot of stuff that ended up being resold on eBay by people in Israel with ties to the government or the idf. We reported this stuff to newspapers and the government of Canada but got nowhere the mighty hand of Izzy Asper strikes again

Source please

"Bunch of you in Canada" should move to the "old country" if you love it so much and stop bringing your politics of terror here !

Tada!

Yet another Pudpacker makes a lame attempt to quote scripture, "If you're shot in the ass, turn the other cheek."

I do have to give you kudos for putting up with this inane bullshit.
I think you meant fudgepacker, blowhole. A pudpacker is someone you would invite to Uranus.

I recently watched 9.11 FDNY on 60 minutes.
They interviewed firefighters who somehow survived the collapse of the WTC towers.
One of the questions they asked was, “What made you go up those stairs when you knew you probably weren’t coming back?”
They said they were in contact with the 911 operators who were in contact with those trapped and crying for help.
I wept at the heroism and senseless loss of life.

My point, if there is one, is that if this conflict goes on long enough, we risk a repeat performance.
For every terrorist leader bombed to perdition, another will take their place. You will never kill them all.
Once all the Palestinians are gone and Hezbollah is a memory, here come the Chechens. My nephew who served in Iraq in 2003 said the most effective snipers shooting at US troops were from Chechnya.
They know how to fuck things up.

After that there are lots of Muslims in Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Are you ok with killing them too?

Go for the gusto. Put the Nazi holocaust in the shade. Eclipse the mass starvation imposed by Stalin.
Set a new record.

Here’s another lame scripture quote for you, fuzz face. ‘If you live by the sword, you will die by it.’
