A few days ago we travelled over the border into southern Queensland to a town by the name of Goondiwindi.....'Gundy' for short.

As can be seen in the photo, most places are not 'just around the corner'. In the seventies, there was a famous race horse that came from Goondiwindi by the name of Gunsynd.....from a mix of Gundy and the word syndicate. A group of chaps got together and bought him for around thirteen hundred dollars; he went on to win over a quarter of a million dollars in his career (a lot of money in those days!.) We were only teenagers at the time but remember him well. He became an aussie icon. He was sort of mottled grey in colour, hence his nickname..the Goondiwindi Grey.

Lots of friends in that area. Long drive from Moree up to Towoomba but stopping and visiting friends along the way makes it a nice drive. As always thanks for the pictures.
