Taylor Swift

I think she’s awesome. She’s a brilliant songwriter, and she writes music that millions upon millions of people find very relatable. Her vocals are strong today. She’s done a lot of work to get there. She is a songwriter, first and foremost. She started performing as a teenager, and then spent several years battling an eating disorder that left her body (and her vocals) weak. Now? She’s strong and healthy and sounds amazing.

IMO, her best music is the stuff that doesn’t get the radio play. For every bubble gum hit like Shake It Off, there’s 3-4 with the deft poetry of My Tears Ricochet, Champagne Problems, or Marjorie.

As a society, we tend to downplay or trivialize art that is created to appeal to women, especially young women. Like it’s less impressive to fill every stadium in the world with young women than with old men? We mock ‘chick flicks’ or hallmark Christmas movies and lifetime movies as frivolous, but treat movies about literal comic book characters as mainstream action blockbusters to be taken seriously. So I think that a lot of the disparaging and downplaying of her talent stems from that bias.
Absolutely yes.
And your last point also speaks to the magat attempt to imply that her popularity is manufactured and a conspiracy - women enjoying themselves and being empowered and being the focus doesn’t suit that small segment of men
But she does have male fans too

And lol at all the guys on this thread saying, “Well I don’t get her popularity, I don’t like her”
As Katy was saying - there’s an audience beyond your purview. I understand why your bands were or are popular, they tapped into something that people wanted to be a part of, just as Taylor does
That’s the joy of variety

She does know what she is doing. Apparently her shows are part of the attraction. People flying from here in the US to see her. Are you a fan?
I'm not a fan of her music I didn't feel the need to see her live. How she's managing all the hype and everything is what like about her. She's just does her thing. No scandals or incidenta that could shatter her young fan base. . How many of young pop stars could handle themselves this same way TS does?

My friends that were able to go to the Eras Tour said, without fail, that it was the safest they’d ever felt in a large crowd. They could go to and from bathrooms alone without being accosted. They could sing and dance freely without having to worry about being groped or grabbed.

If I had children , I would be pleased if TS was their influencer. I would sleep soundly.

I do not know, and she is on the top rung of the ladder. I am not a fan of the music either, my favorite female singer could be Bonnie Raitt, She is a red head too now that I think about it!

I also notice how many of them make their decision based upon her fuckability to them, rather than her talent. That’s how they view women, and can’t understand why women aren’t attracted to them. It’s a mystery.

I'm not sure if I should continue to laugh at this response or feel sad for the person who posted it.
It has to be a post just to get a reaction. We'll done
Care to elaborate considering you typed words without expressing a cogent thought?

I give her credit for what she has done in the music business. I am not a fan of hers, she seems to attract fans in the 8-18 year old range. Mainly young girls seem to like her. I think Pat Benatar and Tina Turner had better stage presence, but that's just the time I came from. I think in the long run she will go away just like most singers do.

Ok I'll elaborate. Your response is a joke. That means it's hysterical and makes me laugh.
My "cogent thought" ? I try be blunt without being rude. So I'm pretty sure Y OU can figure that out

Nothing but ad hominem. Thanks for playing.

How do you think she is in bed? She has nice blowjob lips. What do you think her favorite position is? With those long legs, I'll bet it's missionary. What kind of lingerie go you think she wears. She would look amazing garters and stockings. Do you think she's loud?

Pretty much this.
I admire the woman and the way she conducts herself, when so many others have previously gone off/ been driven off the rails. She's someone young girls can look up to and their Moms know they too can trust the Swifty brand.
I've tried to listen and to like her music, but it's a bit soulless to me, but I'm a cynical 30 yr old ;)
She wholesome white bread but I prefer granary.

Apparently, Musk has offered to get her up the duff. 'Musk breeds Swift' could be the video of the century

Benatar relied on her voice and ability to command the stage. The same with Tina. Hardly any stage effects, unlike Taylor. I'm of the same generation as you.

I liked her early stuff. But could she sit on a stool and sing and still hold her audience?

Why would that matter? Did the Beatles do that? Michael Jackson? Tina Turner?

But anyway…
Folklore: Long Pond Studio Sessions

I guess it goes back to years ago when I heard that Brittney Spears was having to cancel some concerts due to a hurt knee. My first thought was, "Really? Cancel the whole thing?"
It's just become so much of a show now...clothing changes, dancers, multiple set changes, etc. Can you imagine the artists you mentioned having to do all of that? The "industry" has surely changed.

Micheal Jackson for sure did all of that.

Regardless, if she weren’t writing music that people relate to, there would be no one there to watch the stage production.
