The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

The crew almost got it finished yesterday! And yes, the whole Spoon is invited! Although, I suggest we wait a month and let it cool off! It was 94 or 5 here yesterday and 96 the day before. Humid to boot 🥵…Pot luck as I want to try all the good stuff we’ve posted over the last several months! I’m making a Chorizo Queso dip that’s been floating around her family for years. Only downer…got a stomach bug yesterday 🤢…took an activated charcoal pill and wife gave me her Mexican Estafiata tea from leaves out of her grandfathers garden. We still have a few, although he’s been dead over ten years. I guess I better grow it myself!

Here’s to some cooler weather coming and Labor Day weekend fun for all Morning Zen…

I hope the tea and charcoal helped, HDH! 🫂

We have lots of culinary talent in this group! I'll bring desserts; I'm good at that! 🍰🥧🍪

Hello KateAt55. I think maybe we got off on the wrong foot with you. This is a very inclusive group in the The Spoon, but we do tend to cover each others 6’s and protect “the vibe” as we like to call it. It’s not to run you off, or code, or a narrow definition of 50+…it’s just a gentle hint to read the room. As MissK and Lili said this is a very different room than any other on Lit and we like it this way.

Please come back, share a bit, get to know a few of us, or just go back several pages and get the “vibe”…you’ll soon find you probably will feel very welcomed here and like more than a few of us, a great way to start or end the day.

The olive branch extended. Please feel free to take it.
You're so nice, H! 🥰💖

Id counter that those identities may change in the audience mind but until the owning parties of that group retire the band ..it lives until it doesn't.
We've seen bands have some success after members have left or died. Queen comes to mind. While not the powerhouse it was with Freddy Mercury and John Deacon, the addition of Adam Lambert has allowed the band to continue to play.

IDK if Brian May or Roger Taylor would allow Queen to continue without them.

Good morning all.
Just finished a chapter before sending it to my muse.
Today's plans for the first part of my holiday weekend (Three day) include lab work before taking some me time this afternoon.
Downside is the place where my lab is that I am going to is next to a busy area of the town that hosts a huge state fair that started yesterday.
Good thing I am patient.
I think I know that area of which you speak. Traffic and parking! 😱😱

I hope you were able to get your lab work done and chill!

Me too.
I'm headed near a certain Fair today to do lab work.
Been up here since 1998.
Theoretically, my daughter (the one who's finger I am wrapped around) told me I lost my Southern credentials because we've been up here so long. lol.
I moved up here from (whispers) LA. I've been here long enough to have moss growing on my North side! I also confess to (occasionally) wearing socks with sandals when it gets colder. 🤣🤣🤣

Yes and no. The surgery took away the pain that had been constant and nearly left me in tears daily. But it also greatly reduced mobility and made it to where I kind of had to learn to walk again and many things are more challenging now (like stairs). Definitely worth it but it wasn't something that was going to be able to go back to 100% like it had been
I'm so sorry, Tom. 🫂🫂 Trading mobility to be pain-free is a tough choice.
