I was just going to start there first since it was simple. The idea that she spent money to get it fixed was/is a waste, and most of all, we had agreed that it didn't need doing before next year. And then she let him back my tractor in the hole in the back. The whole work can stay the fuck - and by "fuck," I mean all the fuck, not just part of it - off my damned tractor.

My dad was a welder. I kick myself that I never had him show me how to do it. I just remember looking at some of his work and now realize how good a bead he ran!

The answer to your question depends on what sort of band. If the band is comprised amateur collective of musicians that existed for themselves, then I'd say the name dies out with the grouP

BUT:

Most commercially produced bands are entities themselves....a business....a brand. They may have certain "roles" that must be filled (a type of lead vocal or a specific guitar style ect.) but think of those things as positions in a company rather than the actual person filling that role. Does the All American Highschool Marching Band change its name when it's members graduate? Is Macy's no longer Macy's once the original employees change out? No and neither does Styx, Journey, ect.

Pretty much agree w this with one caveat. If the band was stratospheric in popularity (Pink Floyd, Yes, Zep) then the name is retired when the last original member dies or hangs up the microphone cord.

Id counter that those identities may change in the audience mind but until the owning parties of that group retire the band ..it lives until it doesn't.

A good case study was The Floyd. When Roger Waters left the group (or was kicked out?) in the early 80’s he assumed the name would be retired. Gilmour, Mason, and Wright had other plans and it went to court…all over whether they could keep the name without all members agreeing.

Judge ruled in the remaining bands favor and Pink Floyd lived with three of the original members (not including Syd B). So It does appear it “lives until it doesn’t!”

Not to beat a rented mule too hard but worth mentioning…

When I was stationed in Europe 30 yrs ago, many bands from the 60’s and 70’s were touring over there. Bands long forgotten on this side of the pond, but they lived on as traveling gigs with maybe one or two members who had some involvement with the bad when they were at their apogee. With some of the lower tier bands they were probably just happy the name lived on! Rock & Roll!

So, funny side bar. One of my squadron mates uncle just happened to be in one of those 70’s bands and was doing the summer Euro tour thing. They had all but quit touring in the States. They were a staple of 70’s radio…the guy may have looked like a pirate…. He was getting us tix, but we got deployed so never did catch him there…

Good morning all.
Just finished a chapter before sending it to my muse.
Today's plans for the first part of my holiday weekend (Three day) include lab work before taking some me time this afternoon.
Downside is the place where my lab is that I am going to is next to a busy area of the town that hosts a huge state fair that started yesterday.
Good thing I am patient.

Yes and no. The surgery took away the pain that had been constant and nearly left me in tears daily. But it also greatly reduced mobility and made it to where I kind of had to learn to walk again and many things are more challenging now (like stairs). Definitely worth it but it wasn't something that was going to be able to go back to 100% like it had been

It's kind of like sports teams in that way too. Our discussion that raised this question here was definitely about a band more like Styx or journey, but those other points really make sense. I do kind of wonder if it matters who it is and what band specifically. Like with Queen, I believe they now list themselves as Queen with whoever is filling in Freddy Mercury's spot, not just Queen. And if the U2 ever tried to your without Bono, I can't see them just trying to say they were U2. Thanks.

Whoa I just had a wild thought reading this. It's the Princess Bride. If you have seen the movie, it's the dred pirate Roberts story. If you haven't seen it, you need to. It's a classic and one of the best and funniest movies ever.

I haven't been there as a patron in years. I think it was Carrie Underwood's first concert.
I lived in South Hill for 18 yrs, so I knew the pain back then before I moved to where I am now.
Luckily, there's a few back ways I can use to get to where I am going.

I live and work where the Fair traffic impacts my commute. Learning alternative routes is a must in September.

Truth be told I don't know how not to be. I grew up with guy friends a group of them and we all were like this. My parents/grandparents tried to "DiNozzo slap" it out of me when I was in High School. Also, I have been trying to be better in here
