The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I get that. That's how I am if I take a second nap on Sunday.

Mom has some macular degeneration procedure today. Her half-assed craycray cousin is supposed to be in charge of taxiing. I'm wagering that I'll get a call for a ride home sometime around midday.
Did you?

learning is a lifelong process
you got this, Wat
everyone's got a story for how they got to night school
some are more colorful than others IMO
Both of my graduate programs were all night classes. The theory was, everyone in graduate school had day jobs. Except, some of us didn't...🙄

Things were different when I was in HS.
Wasn't allowed to take shop class. Was allowed to take HomeEc 🤢 Shop class was used for low performing and problem students. Those deemed to have "a future" were not admitted to shop.

I was lucky enough to take a woodshop class in 8th grade at neighboring elementary school. Made a table that I used until a few years after college graduation. that was a fun class!
I had to take Home Ec in HS also. Boys got to take shop. I think shop would have been more fun.

Getting to make a table you could actually use is very cool, Likes!

My Jr High School was different than most. We lived on the beach and had many different electives. I wish I would have taken surfing. I took drafting, welding I and II. HS I took woodshop all three years.

I still have the comforter stand that I made. It's like a quilt stand but larger. I have my shelf in the garage that I won a prize with. I had a coffee table that I made with strips of wood glued together but I messed it by not gluing the grains right. I had that forever just because it was cool looking. I painted the strips rainbow :ROFLMAO: It was so bright. It eventually warped because of my mess up, but it still was our coffee table for many years with different roommates. I built my closet shelves in my walk in closet.

I haven't done woodworking in a long while but that was my hobby for a minute. I used to have a full shop except for a wood lave. I ended up selling most of it years ago. I still have a bandsaw but I need to fix it. It's old school, so it's big.
You're a talented lady, Impy! 🥰🥰

Have you tried mineral makeup? When I do wear some, it's this instead of foundation. The right shade works wonders! And it doesn't slide off like other types of makeups do.
I believe my extended family, makeup girl, put some on me when I was in a wedding. I still see her every easter, so I could ask, but not really sure. I think I zone out when girls talk makeup.

TDK is a delight to watch chasing bugs. She goes after the flyers, too, keeping her eyes on the prize and using both paws. She's reasonably successful.

Right now, she is sitting in a box.

Mom got through her eye procedure with flying colors. She drove herself to and fro.

Appetizer: chilled sliced tomato with salt, pepper, Dash, and a big daub of Hellman's.
Please don't let your mom drive herself to eye procedures! 😳

Well...went to put something in the freezer and there is frost. 8 hear it running and food is frozen solid.... I was in there earlier and got ice but the ice maker is a pain. I also got meat out. Hoping that I just left it cracked.... we will see.... I have lots of meat in there.... let's all pray I don't need to buy a new fridge. Anyone buy one recently. Any brands your fave. Lg?
The other day I couldn't get the freezer drawer open. Seems I neglected to close it all the way and it had some defrost and refreeze. I finally got it open. I'm more careful about making sure it's closed now.

I have a newish LG. The top has French doors. I don't really like the freezer drawer, I'd rather have door compartments. We bought it at the end of last year. It has 2 ice makers. I was tired of listening to my hubs whine about ice. I told him if one ice maker died, there was still another.

Small piece of my messy closet (I haven't cleaned it out since the ex rummaged through it), so you only get a piece. The other is the comforter holder. My main light (the fan) broke. I pulled the chain too hard and it came all the way out and my phone takes horrible pictures because I bought unbreakable rather than quality, so the pic is awful, but you can see it at least

Beautiful quilt stand, Impy! Very impressive! 😍🥰

You stop her.

She was going to have Flaky the Cousin drive her home if she felt bad, but she was kinda excited that she could see better. Like when she started driving at night again after she had her cataracts done. My brother put a stop to that with Ein Diktat. I was working at it more subtly. It got done regardless.

Wat has two fridges. One is an old cheapie 18 footer that just keeps going. The other is a new-but-damaged unit salvaged from the job from 2022. The old one has an icemaker that I have never used - no connection, and I ain't puttin' it in. Wat keeps a large rectangular container with water for drinking, and it stores nicely and works like a charm. If one goes out, it'll probably be the older one, and it'll probably be the gaskets. Bad door gaskets can cause some of the fridge/freezer symptoms mentioned here.

Also, don't set the damned things too cold. There is usually a "suggested" setting, and the machines seem to work best at that setting. If you want it a tad cooler, okay, but just a tad. Also, beware overfilling the freezer compartment on top freezer units. The cold air from the freezer is whta chills the fridge, and if it can't circulate, then guess what happens?

Oh, and Happy Tuesday. Welding class tonight.

Glad she got home safely. I understand about mothers wanting to do it for themselves.

My mom worked and drove herself everywhere until she was 83. She was stopped on the freeway by the highway patrol driving in the wrong direction. In the middle of the night. She thought she was going to work. It's a good thing it was the middle of the night. She could have killed herself or someone else. She never drove again after that.

My brother restricted her to daytime, so there's that. She asks for a ride for long distance stuff. She'll be 92 in November. I have no idea what's next in the script.
