I think a lot of women get caught up in the whole marriage fantasy. But marriage solves problems. Or that lust equals love. As I get older that stuff doesn't mean anything to me. Loyalty, companionship, communication, Etc. Are much more important to me anyway. And I know that I have to have myself right before I can even think about being right for somebody else.
It took me a long time to figure that out. You're going through it now, with the whole ex jerk. The best thing to do in your life is to set boundaries, say something and stand up for yourself if something isn't right, don't make excuses for other adults.. they're responsible for themselves. And a few good things I learned early in my journey to getting better is that I am the author of my story. I liked it a previous post where you wrote that he wasn't 100% responsible for the breakdown your marriage. No one is a victim except for a victim of their own bad decisions. That victim mentality will keep you in a mess. Also no one can make you feel anyway. For instance you made me mad, sad, angry, irritated, etc. no you chose the reaction. And that's really all you can control is your reaction. I have my own struggles with this. I have absolutely zero ability to tolerate stupidity. I am short tempered with people and not patient. But I have to figure that out because they're not responsible for my actions I'm responsible for them. They aren't going to change no matter what I do, so I have to be flexible and adjust and deal with it on my side. It is a hard lesson we taught my nephew when he was 17 teach your daughter when she's younger she's going to grow up and be have healthy relationships with decent people and not run into the struggles. Also when you do all this stuff, these narcissists an assholes run in the opposite direction because they know that you are not going to fall for their s***

I lost the pain game yesterday. Nothing was helping. Even using Lit as a distraction flamed out. Had to duck out early as a result.
