Paris Olympics

Female boxer yells 'this is unjust' and falls to her knees in tears as she quits fight against 'biologically male'

I've been following the star of the US Women's Rugby Team since last week. Her name is Ilona Maher and she is of Slavic descent. She trains hard with weights year-round and has a cardio routine that few could match. She has unusually large musculature for a woman. She's a beast. Because she's not a blonde pixie, a lot of wussy American males denigrate her every chance they get with"That's a MAN, baby!" Austin Powers memes.

She let one comment get under her skin last week. Some pencil-necked keyboard commando went "full Rightguide" in a single comment on her Instagram feed "Your BMI is 30. You're overweight". She fired back on him, talking about BMI is not a one-size-fits-all measurement, that she's been told she was overweight all of her life and she had the density of her muscles tested and she is in the 99th percentile for muscle mass on a woman. In short, she worked for her gainz.

Her post went viral and she got something like 400,000 new followers on Instagram alone, and 2 million well-wishers who have taken it upon themselves to protect the Bronze Medalist from the "fat shamers".

Oh, and her gainz helped her team win the Bronze medal at the Paris Olympics

The Olympic outrage didn’t involve the desecration of religious icons.

A bunch of Christians mistook a tableau vivant of a bacchanal for a Renaissance painting of the last supper.

And no one is / was surprised by the MAGAts’ lack of education or their unjustified histrionic reaction that was done mostly for effect and to garner attention.

🤬

JFC

SAD!!!

The US team finished without medals in the shooting competition. Even Team GB managed a Gold.

A US representative said, 'It wasn't fair. We weren't allowed to use pictures of schoolkids as targets'.
Best contrast in style in the pistol competition:
Korea's Kim Yeji using every high tech component available to him: Posture brace, state of the art site, special shooting glasses that cover the non dominant eye, etc.
Contrast with
Turkey's "good ole boy", Yusuf Dikeç, shows up in a t-shirt, sticks one hand in his jeans pocket, and ... a complete badass.

I wonder how many years are left for the Olympics. Fewer cities are willing to host because they can't pay the extreme expenses and demands of the IOC. Doping casts constant doubt on athletic achievement, and now there are men competing as "women." All types of global athletic competition are in their declining years as travel becomes more expensive.

I haven't watched sports in years, since I don't have cable TV. People who still have cable may be a minority now.

Woman makes history as America's first Black women's water polo player, and all her fans want to ask her is about her hair and skin care regimen. "Aren't you offended?" the woke media asks. "oh hell no! I wish I'd had sometime take the time to explain what was necessary to maintain your hair and skin when I was coming up!".

Gotta love these "feel good" Olympic stories.

True but the news media should have taken the time to explain it was a tableau vivant of a bacchanal and had nothing to do with the last supper that is their job after all. In short, the news is supposed to report new events and explain to their viewers what they are seeing.

OMG yes! I was a swimmer in high school and long exposure to chlorine made my hair like straw!

There was no controversy, just MAGAs doing their usual thing of creating an imaginary issue and pretending to be upset about it. 😆
So you are telling me MAGAs knew they were watching a performance of Greek Mythology and pretended they didn't know it was Greek Mythology?

They didn’t notice that part of the performance at all (it was only a couple minutes out of an 3 hour ceremony) and then pretended to be highly upset after a right wing propaganda outlet told them to be upset.

My only interest is if Ryan Crouser breaks his world record for the third time.

nigger is a slur when used in that context. i won't argue it isn't a bad word. there isn't much use for it to use it otherwise except in a historical context or within a story.

things will not start to get better until that word gets demoted to stand with all the rest of the bad words we use to insult each other.
In today's world, the only people I hear using it are other black people. It's all over their music.

Today's OMG story:

The woman representing Egypt's fencing team is competing for a medal......and she is seven months pregnant!

This shows how far the Olympics have advanced in the 21st century, allowing a pregnant woman to compete.

As recently as 2018, she'd have been disqualified from competition for pregnancy.

NOT for any protection of her baby, but the fact that pregnant women were found to naturally increase their level of testosterone in their bloodstream as a result of pregnancy, which gave them an "uncompetitive advantage" in sport competition.

Women's testosterone levels have been strictly regulated since 2011.

Pregnant women and women with PCOS were automatically disqualified from Olympic competition during the period 2011-2018 for "abnormally high" testosterone levels.

Public outcry eventually caused these two conditions to be specifically exempted from testosterone level tests in 2018.
