Shot fired at Trump?

From your article and everything else I have read

The FBI later told Forbes in a statement Friday night that what struck Trump “was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle.”

Do you think he was struck by an intact bullet? Does the shape of his ear now bear that out?

The Blast Effect

This is how bullets from an AR-15 blow the body apart

The AR-15 fires bullets at such a high velocity — often in a barrage of 30 or even 100 in rapid succession — that it can eviscerate multiple people in seconds. A single bullet lands with a shock wave intense enough to blow apart a skull and demolish vital organs. The impact is even more acute on the compact body of a small child.

“It literally can pulverize bones, it can shatter your liver and it can provide this blast effect,” said Joseph Sakran, a gunshot survivor who advocates for gun violence prevention and a trauma surgeon at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

During surgery on people shot with high-velocity rounds, he said, body tissue “literally just crumbled into your hands.”

Yup. Shrapnel.

That kind damage is done if a round actually impacts a significant amount of body mass.

A graze from an AR round is basically.the same as a graze from any other round.

The speed at which that AR round (if it was an AR round and not shrapnel) whizzed past that orange POS’s ear may have been sufficient to cause an ear ache or dizziness, but that’s about it as far as anything beyond the small nick observed .

👍

Thanks for the input.

Of course we know good ol' Doc Ronnie Johnson was completely lying when he said in the interview that it took the top of Trump's ear off.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/trump-as...-thomas-crooks-90-minutes-before-shooting.amp

Text messages revealed that law enforcementresponsible for monitoring former President Trump's Pennsylvania rally spotted his would-be assassin and flagged him to colleagues as suspicious at least 90 minutes before he opened fire.

The messages from Beaver County Emergency Services Unit, showed that officers flagged 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks after he was spotted using a range finder – but did not approach him.

A follow-up message said that Crooks was about 50 yards from the rally's exit, sitting at a picnic table.

Two other counter-snipers responded with a thumbs up emoji and responded, writing, "Roger that."

Approximately 45 minutes later, at 5:10 p.m., officers flagged that Crooks was on the move and had positioned himself near the American Glass International (AGR) building. Crooks would later perch himself on top of the AGR building to target the former president. While Crooks waited, an officer snapped a picture of the 20-year-old suspect.

I was going to say no one is claiming otherwise, but plenty of people on both sides are. I do not disagree with that. Also, an exaggeration is an exaggeration. Trump is a wee bit prone to exaggerating.

Hard to exaggerate an assassination. Think about it, the assassin either makes his shot or he misses, there's no 3rd option. Trying to say an assassin killed you while you're standing there proclaiming that bit of news is kinda obvious that it's not true.

On the other hand, trying to say that an assassin "missed" when there's blood and evidence that he didn't, is also kind of obviously a lie.

Which is basically where the Left is on this. Worse, now they're trying to claim there wasn't even an assassination attempt let alone that Trump was injured in it.

Hard to exaggerate? Yes, it certainly is.

But convicted felon DonOld Trump was up to the challenge, he parlayed a 2cm cut on his ear into a "bullet hole that pierced his ear". slapped an oversized bandage on it for maximum sympathy during the Republican convention (except when playing golf, of course) and immediately after the RNC convention was over, voilà! (or 'walla' in chobham-speak) the ear magically healed itself. Praise Jesus!

By now, even the most faithful acolytes of convicted felon DonOld Trump now realize what actually happened: The former president milked the equivalent of a paper cut on his ear for almost two weeks in a crass attempt to garner sympathy for both himself and his toxic political positions.

Utter Bovine Scatology.

An AR-15 is nothing more than a twenty-two caliber rodent rifle that was impressed into military service. In contrast, the most common hunting rifles are thirty caliber. They have about double the sectional area and at least three times the impact energy. The muzzle velocity of about three-thousand feet per second is comparable to most other, center fire rifles. Contrary to the opinions of ignoramuses, a bullet from an AR-15 doesn't generate mysterious "blast effects" in human tissue. In fact at three-thousand feet per second, a bullet from an AR-15 is actually subsonic when traveling through human tissues. Any ultrasound technician can explain this to you.

Based on my experience shooting thousands of rounds of various high velocity .22 caliber ammunition like the .223 Remington and many others, I don't think the outer edge of human ear represents enough mass to alter the integrity of the bullet itself. If that bullet would have hit his head, the side of his head, the front of the tragus or the Helicis Crus of the ear the result would have been catastrophic.

I think the bullet just nicked the Helix of the ear. I think such a wound could bleed like mad and heal to the point of not being easily detected to a casual observer. I think he was very fortunate.

Both sides?

Bill O’Reilly and John Stewart are political polar opposites but they still manage to have civil discussions. They have spoken many times on each other’s shows about a wide variety of topics.

Here they’re talking briefly and honestly about fanatics, presidential assassinations, and economics.

We should all get a clue and figure out how to talk with each other without all of the toxic vitriol.

Rod showcases his utter hate for Donald Trump and when the truth isn't enough to suffice, he fabricates the rest.

Dam, an attempted assassination being called an attempted assassination really gets your goat.

Or perhaps he wasn't "injured enough" for you?

I was sitting in a doctor's waiting room for entirely too long this morning (I'm fine, thanks for caring) and read the print version of Time magazine (cover date: August 6, 2024) for the first time in forever.

It proved to me how fast the political cycles move in the era of 24/7/365 internet news cycle.

The feature story was the "assassination attempt" on convicted felon DonOld Trump. The defiant fist in the air with the bloody ear was of course the cover story, which was, of course superseded by current events.

The first story was about President Joe Biden not seeking re-election and the events that led up to it. It was absolute journalistic perfection, all sort of "insider baseball" stuff with who-knew-what-and-when and how they seemlessly transitioned from Joe Biden to Kamala Harris as standard bearer in 24 hours.

The main story, however, was a now-dated piece on convicted felon DonOld J Trump and how this "assassination attempt" changes EVERYTHING. He's expected to be the clear front runner now, he's changing his tone and asking for unity, he's humbled and bewildered a bit by people (including President Joe Biden) calling and wishing him a speedy recovery. His advisors were saying off the record how "Bad Trump" had been put on the shelf for a while, and "Good Trump" (doing things his professional handlers WANT him to do) is reaping increased goodwill.

The piece hasn't aged well, and it'll still be on newsstands for another week.

There was an inciteful piece on the Indian Prime Minister Modi, who lost his majority and has to shift to a coalition government. Modi made a state visit to America earlier this year but visited Russia last week. I didn't know India gets virtually all of its oil and most of its military hardware from Russia, and pays in hard currency that Putin needs to maintain his war. Modi promised India would remain "strictly neutral" in the Ukranian-Russia conflict, because China has been saber-rattling with India over disputed areas in Nepal.

The rest of Time was devoted to 20 places around the world you gotta visit sometime in your life and 20 songs you gotta hear this summer. 10 pages of fluff
