Holy fuckamole!!! My son and I have this but nobody outside the hearing and psych world has heard of it and acts like we are stupid. My poor kid was labeled a problem child and nobody caught it until he was a junior in highschool.

I almost lost my job from it and am certain I had lost previous jobs from it. My hearing aids help eliminate distractions except what's in front of me. It helps...some.

Actually, I was contemplating this very same thing recently. I think my wife and I have similar issues but respond differently.
I’m definitely a “What?” Response even while I’m still processing. She will not respond. After a long pause I’ll ask again and then she will either say what she thought she heard (well why didn’t you respond to that or ask for clarification then???) or put it on me for mumbling.
